This actually doesn't seem to ridiculous to me. The buzz about this game has indeed got people excited to try it. A demo's a great way to lure people in, and they're luring people TO the lure by saying they can get a SUPER DUPER INSIDER DEMO, as long as they promise they'll buy the real game. And there lies the real issue, it's like a crappy cellphone contract that lures you in with a cool deal and then forces you into something.

I agree that it would have been a better move to release the early demo for uncommitted players. The fact that that's not what's happening is leading me to suspect that maybe the game is atrociously disappointing, that Sony knows it, and that they're playing their cards smart on how to maximize the number of guaranteed copies that will be sold.

I really hope that's not the case, but still. I'll play the demo, but I won't pre-order. Just in case the demo turns out to be balls-awful. Which I sincerely hope it doesn't.

These videos are always fantastic and worth the wait. I'm not a big fan of online shooters, but this is really the best I've ever seen a company promote one.

He did this exact same schtick with Halo 3. These videos used to be fun to watch when there was, indeed, still a question over if the featured item would blend. (Golf balls, crowbar, etc.)

What the hell is the point of calling the show "Will it blend" if you're just going to keep blending the same thing?

I propose a new title for the show: "It will blend. The blender costs $300. You will never be able to justify this purchase."

HD was never a BAD format, it was just by far the lesser of the two, and only idiots would choose it over Blu-Ray.

And now that Toshiba's officially backed out of the fight, their players and movies will be dirt-cheap, and I'll have no guilt buying them, because there's not much you can do to bring a dead format back to life.

Going to pick up the first $50 player and $10 disc I find :D
