Minter's pissed, Frogger outsells Space Giraffe
Nov 25th 2007 1:24AM (Joystiq Xbox)"What’s really going on here is a confluence of trends. One, which the Times article points out, is that audiences are getting better at seeing through hype and rejecting the crap."

I reject you Minter, and all your works and powers. Sorry man. I just do.

Oct 17th 2007 1:28PM (Joystiq Xbox)I was driving a 1987 Toyota Corolla SR5. White, with huge BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. I mean these tires were huge: 215/50R13. These huge tires (think hydroplane) plus the fact that my car was rear wheel drive meant that I was probably a little "friskier" behind the wheel in rain and snow than I really should have been.
So I'm planning to make a left turn, so I get into the left turn lane. There's NO traffic at all. It was one of those 5 to 10 minute lulls in city traffic you see sometimes when there's not a car in sight for several blocks. The light turns green, so I decide that I'm going to kick the tail of the car out a little as I turn. Just a little, playful flourish if you will. So I accelerate ahead to make the turn, get partway into the turn and then "goose" the throttle a little bit to get the rear end to slide out. AT least, that was my plan. For some reason, my foot heard "stomp" instead of "goose"...
The RPM's jump up to about 4K-5K. At this point I'm in full-tilt, wheel-spinning, tire-screeching, "Hey! Wake up everybody and look at me!" mode. I'm wrestling with the steering wheel, trying to make sure I don't loose control of the car and crash into the gas station on the corner. Once I actually gained control of the car, I realized that I had just accidentally done a BEAUTIFUL, almost perfect 270 degree turn and I'm now facing in the opposite direction (as if I had made a right turn instead).
Of course, there was no one around to see my shenanigans, (and how hurt my pride was because of my little slip-up) but I felt compelled to "play it off" anyway, as if I had intended the elaborate maneuver all along. So I adjusted the throttle and squealed off down the street where I eventually decided to drive like a sensible human being for the rest of the night.
Now, I only do stuff like that in Forza. Minivans and family sedans just aren't that nimble.
