Microsoft Password Checker: 1234 is not a secure password, who knew?

More problematic is that a person's full name and social security number is considered to be the best in terms of security.

DVD Review: Transmorphers

Bought it and just watched it. We're talking quality bad-good movie here. After seeing some of the trailers on the DVD, I'll be buying Dragon and The Apocalypse next just for the sheer pleasure of watching utter crap.
Uwe Boll and Leigh Scott need to get together and co-direct a movie. I'd pay to see that. In theaters.

Vista'd make a great upgrade for my art machine.

MySpace Parental controls

Jan 19th 2007 11:31AM (Download Squad)
Here's an idea. How about American parents take it upon themselves to be actively aware of their children's lives? Age verification software and parental controls are useless unless parents actually take the time to actively monitor their children. Too long has America been the nation of scapegoats and every time someone blames MySpace or video games or music for the ills that befall children it proves that parents just won't take accountability for being lousy parents.

Joystiq poll: Do you leave your game console on standby?

"So it's not a simple matter of "oh, my device only uses a small amount of power" because to generate that power, a ton of very inefficient things are going on."

So, let's change those very innefficient things rather than blame the end user. What is preventing anyone from developing alternative sources of power? Hell, we already know we can get power through photovoltaic cells and windmills. How about hydroelectricity, not just from dams, but from waterfalls as well? Why do we have to use fossil fuels to "create" all the "energy" on this planet?

Energy can neither be destroyed nor created, but it can be radiated out into space gradually, until we have achieved equilibrium with the surrounding space.

Office 2007 interface preview video

I'm just curious how large a footprint this is going to have thanks to all the "gallery" previews. Also, where would one go in this new Office to find settings for the software itself, not the document? I feel that, if I don't like a feature, I should be able to turn it off.

Do we really need "style" in Excel? If it's all about "number-crunching," shouldn't more focus be on making sure that the formulae are there that people need? For instance, create automatic formulae for tax calculation for businesses. Or, perhaps, automatic sales analysis. Do we really need shiny new visual enhancements?

And, wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft actually used PowerPoint for their presentations, instead of a high-paid visual arts department? Just a thought.
