Porsche makes its Forza 4 debut in May

Mar 5th 2012 1:21PM (Joystiq)
Can't say I'm surprised; but I can say I'm disappointed. After a lot of "ho-hum" in the game for the $30 Season Pass, we get left out of something truly worth our money. Too bad.

Rumor: Assassin's Creed 3 takes place during American Revolution, stars Native American [update]

Feb 29th 2012 9:19PM (Joystiq)
At the very least, I'm intrigued. I've always wanted a Revolutionary War title (and what's up with the lack of Civil War titles -- come on Call of Duty!!!).

Anyway, I've never played any of the Assassin's Creed games. But I'm actually seriously wanting to get my hands on this one.

12 Days of Joyswag: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector's Edition (or: free dragons)

First real world responsibility? Probably my commitment to my Forza 4 club. :-)

But if you don't count that ... then definitely sleep, at the very least.

Resident Evil 4, Code Veronica HD ports coming to NA as downloads this fall

Mar 24th 2011 1:24PM (Joystiq)
I've never had the opportunity to play through Resident Evil: Code Veronica, a game I was always told was great. I'm very excited about this.

Duke Nukem Forever delayed

Mar 24th 2011 8:41AM (Joystiq)
I'm curious how many people really even care anymore. Most fans of the series that I talk to really have, at best, a passing interest in the game.

It feels like people are more curious as to what kind of review scores it's going to garner, rather than actually pre-order it. Delaying it again seems to bring up chuckles (not lolz) and I think most people just move on rather than even giving a flip.

Good luck, Gearbox.

Joyswag: Dreamcast Collection, soundtrack vinyl and 'Still Thinking' hoodie

Without a doubt, for me, it's Power Stone.

Power Stone introduced us to the gorgeous idea of an isometric fighting game, and threw in fun, dynamic environments to boot. The fighting was balanced, so like Tekken -- you could just go through the game fighter after fighter, and have a ball doing it.

Runners up:
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Shenmue
Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Dead Island is back with haunting debut trailer, Deep Silver to publish

Feb 16th 2011 5:22PM (Joystiq)
@StandingFreddy As I posted earlier -- being a father of two little girls, this was actually a little too much to take.

It's not a "you crossed the line you dirty game developers" sort of thing, but more of a -- I just don't think I want to play a game full of evocative experiences of my daughter getting killed.

Then again, it'll be very difficult for the game to keep that evocative feel going.

I just find it interesting that, because of its "shock moments" ... I was simultaneously impressed with the trailer and determined that I wasn't going to play the game.

Dead Island is back with haunting debut trailer, Deep Silver to publish

The trailer was really well done. It was very evocative, and that's to its credit. The whole thing had a LOST finale-ish vibe, which isn't a bad thing.

There's still a lurching problem, and that's the shock value of the child being killed. It's too easy to throw "shock" into games for just shock's sake (though they way they did this one was well done).

I mean, it looks like it could be a good game if the narrative can hold up.

But just to be clear, as a father of two little girls, watching that trailer was like a nightmare ... I think I'd rather be IN Silent Hill than playing this game.

XBLA deals for next week are decidedly anti-alien

Feb 4th 2011 3:29PM (Joystiq)
I've heard nothing but great things about the Space Invaders remake. Couple that with Geometry Wars 2 and dang -- that's like a great B1G1 deal.

The only game I own on the list is Galaga Legions -- and I can tell you that game is pure awesome. Namco should get muchos kudos for the fantastic arcade remakes they've been putting out.
