Man, will you people not stop bitching? $400 is a great deal for the ps3. People who already have a ps2 and don't care about a memory card reader can buy it. The upscaling of ps2 games on the ps3 isn't that great anyway. Sony can't just magically make the ps3 cheaper. They had to reduce as many costs as possible while still keeping the ps3 a ps3. A ps3 is for playing ps3 games and watching blu-ray movies. Playing ps2 games on it isn't suppose to be a major feature. And if it is a major feature for you then you shouldn't buy a damn ps3 anyway. Stick with your ps2 and wait till 2008 to buy a ps3. You're not helping sony much if you're going to be playing ps2 games a lot more than ps3 games.

Plus you can still buy the 60GB! It' still available. I'm serious, the people who keep bitching about this BC probably wouldn't even buy a 40GB ps3 even if it did have BC.

You sir are and idiot. They care about the consumer as much as they possible can. Why the hell do you think they gave you this price cut so soon? No but you don't see the fucking price cut do you? You just see the damn loss of ps2 BC and shit all over it. Some things they simply cannot do. You do not work at sony and no matter how hard you try you simply cannot comprehend why they would do this. Sony can't simply give you everything and they have given a lot of thought into what they can give you.

It's the equivilant of a 5 year old trying to figure out why his/her parents didn't let the 5 year old eat his 20th ice cream of the day. (too much ice cream) The 5 year old simply thinks they did that because they are mean, bad parents who want to piss him off.

If you care that much about the BC as to not buy the ps3 because of it . Then you shouldn't be buying a ps3 anyway! You're probably one of the people would still hesitate to buy this 40GB ps3 even if it did have ps2 games BC!

The vast majority opinion of the internet is different from the majority of common consumer opinion. They really will not care that much about ps2 game BC. They will buy the ps3 to play ps3 games! (and watch blu-ray movies)

It's funny how you people first criticize the ps3's hi price and now that the price has become almost something that can't be complained about, you start complaining about minor changes in the hardware! Do really need 4 USB ports instead of 2? Do you really need 60GB instead of 40GB? No! And if you do: Buy the damn 60GB which got a price cut! Now! And stop complaining of missing ps2 BC in the 40GB version.

Umm... the 60GB euro ps3 doesn't have the emotion engine either! I say again there is no conceivable reason this 40GB shouldn't have software BC...

Listen up you ignorant idiots. Its not just a freaking demo! It has many tracks, many cars and an online racing mode. It's half a game. It has a lot more than a demo but not nearly how much the full GT5 will have. It's basically for GT5 lovers. Who want a piece a little while before the actual GT5 comes out. $39 is very reasonable!
