The Flood, at least with the Covenant I'll die a quick death and won't be turned into some alien zombie thing.

Kutaragi: PlayStation 3 is "too cheap"

May 17th 2006 6:03PM (Joystiq)
I love how everyone defending Sony is going "Well I can afford it so I'm cooler than you". You guys seem to not understand something. If no one else can afford your system, the user base for the PS3 is low. If it's lower than the 360 or Wii user base, then publishers are going to port your "exclusives" over to the 360 so they reach more consumers. Then I'll be able to play the same games you're playing with added features and I didn't get raped by Fony for $600. Look at "exclusives" like MGS2, RE4, and GTA as examples of ports to increase the publishers consumer reach.

Wii will cost $200 say spectators

May 17th 2006 2:01PM (Joystiq)
If we're talking just the system with one set of controllers (Remote and Nunchuk) I'm gonna go with $149. You figure Nintendo is selling the gamecube for $99 and if the price drop to $79 is true, then it costs them less than that to manufacture. The Wii is not that big a jump over the GC so it's not going to cost that much more to manufacture, maybe an extra $20. The controller will be cheap to mass manufacturer. Controllers are at a 40% profit margin for the retailer, that doesn't even include the markup that Nintendo makes from what they can make it for versus what they sell it to EB/Gamestop, Best Buy for.

If they decide to pack in a game or extra controllers then I can see a $200 price point but a base system with one controller I don't see going for more than $150.

You know, this game looked better when it was called Ninety Nine Nights. Oh wait, this is a crappy copycat? That explains it.

Load times are cool but that still doesn't look much better than PGR3.

Xbox 360 to get CPU upgrade in 2007

Apr 21st 2006 10:46AM (Joystiq)
Thank you bandit. Finally someone with some sense. Listen up fanboys, it's not an "upgrade" that you have to pay for. As technology advances it becomes cheaper and easier to manufacture cpus. It's the same processing power as you get now only the cpu is smaller in size. This means they can get more cpus onto one wafer and the chips are more energy efficient so there is less heat generated.

Edge asks, "Why aren't games funny?"

Apr 7th 2006 5:26PM (Joystiq)
Grim Fandango hands down is the funniest game ever. It's a shame people don't play Tim Schafer's games. He's consistently funny and knows how to use humor in games. I guess if the game's not funny in a violent sort of way people pass it over.
