Nielsen: 360 has most 'active users' in 2009, Wii has fewest

Aug 11th 2009 3:37PM (Joystiq)
Hey i love my wii, but i dont think i could invest the time i used to in gaming these days... Im happy to dip into the Virtual console for some retro action in between good quality innovative releases.

I definitely spend more time on the DS tho, I can play on the toilet, in the bath, in bed when i should be sleeping, on the train/bus to work etc... (cost me so many late mornings to work) whereas the Wii comes out when i have some time to kill on my own on the weekends or when a few mates come round for drinks...

But as a nintendo fanboy (albeit a realistic one) Im pretty much used to the lingering disappointment that comes with the job-title. For each hit idea or innovation, they have to make a few (excruciatingly) painful misses.

It reminds me of the N64 that promised so much but struggled to deliver in so many ways, save for a few notable absolute game-changers obviously...

Hey im glad Nintendo are raking it in this generation, it means that they're still here for the next couple rounds. They're playing a long game to stay alive against the big gun multinationals and that keeps me happy. At least they keep the competition on its toes! Thats healthy for the whole gaming industry surely?

Bplus mines proto-3D nostalgia for Vektor Tank

I got this on iphone already, it's a little clunky control wise so I'd be interested to see if a wii version added anythin to the game. To be honest I can't imagine why they wouldn't release this as wiiware rather than retail. (except for the obvious reason, money) It's just not that good.

That boss battle just makes me think of Ninja Gaiden NDS, not graphically, but the gameplay, and waggle rather than tapple/scratchle. Could be fun i never played the original.

Wii Backup Loader leaked onto the net -- welcome to pirating hell Nintendo

@pang

The difference is that ISO's that you see floating around on warez sites could be burned and played on a modified or chipped Wii console.

However the wii homebrew channel exploits a save file loophole in copies of Zelda, and with a bit of homework and a couple dl'ed files, can be used on a non modified, warranty intact, firmware updateable console.

This is nintendo's, and the homebrew community's worst case scenario. Plus now the chances of a storage device have dropped to ABSOLUTE ZERO.
