of course It's not just the iphone... the iphone just shows better than any other gadget how stupid we are getting... and how much energy we waste in stupid actions.
Gadgets are great because they're useless and great to play with (and that's why I love them). But while we're loosing our jobs, banks are stealing our money and everything is turning to shit, the only thing some people seem to care about is having the latest, useless upgrade of some cell phone, and spending a lot of money on it...
Glossy screens are like candied fruit in pies, only a small minority likes 'em but the producers keep putting them everywhere! I think Apple has long proved to have little interest in ergonomics, as long as stuff looks cool and trendy. Think about apple mice Think about flat keyboards
Apple would really be the best, if they just cared a bit more about the user.
Spielberg... visionary? Oh give me a break! Anyway, it's not really news the game industry is right now the biggest market in the entertainment industry... but I'm not sure we're winning anything this way...
yawn! this is just so ridiculos! they now have shared memory graphic chips in all the affordable models, haven't they? And if I have to spend 1.800 for an imac, then I can just get a pro and be a lot happier at it...
apple keeps disappointing too much lately. is it the crisis? are they swimming in the shit like all the others... well, this ain't gonna help 'em out I guess...
How many times have we heard that cell phones do no harm, then that they do harm indeed, then again that it's all bullshit. We'll never know, until we'll have some strange symptoms coming out of nowhere, or maybe we won't, and it will be a lot better that way. There's the one side that sponsors scientist to say "no" and on the other side scientist who say "yes", I mean EXXON spent a huge sum to found global warming sceptics... well at least as long as they could somehow do it...
We'll probably never know. Or maybe there's enough pieces of the puzzle out there to get a fair picture of what are the risks, if there are any. personally I'd much prefer it, if wifi and cell phones would be just plain harmless stuff, but if it isn't, then I'd like to know it. If anybody has some real data, I'm interested, but just saying: "I've learned in science class that it's safe" is a not really a scientific way to prove anything.
But what I'm thinking right now, having to invest in a new pc (and oh yes macs are pcs, no more no less) is one thing: why do I hear a lot about faulty hardware on Apple computers and little from other companies? The possible explanations are: a) Websites like to make Apple look bad b) Apple is screwing up a bit lately c) both
But at least one thing we must appreciate, Apple admits to have sold faulty hardware and will probably replace these parts for free. My last laptop was an HP nx7000, it had a known hardware issue, the gaphic card chip was not properly fixed on the card and would loosen a bit with high temperatures, which the laptop produced not having adequate cooling. so after 2 years my 2000 € laptop was a piece of junk and I had to get a new one. HP never admitted to having sold faulty hardware.
Some people I know would say: you see, pcs (meaning, every computer that is not an apple) are crap. But then, there's a lot of other companies out there.
I'm never going to buy an HP again, but from what i read getting an apple is as risky these days, but this might just be my subjective perception. Can anybody give me hint, which is not just saying "it aint't so, period"?
whatever... from an aesthetic point of view I kind of like the Meizu version better... looks less kitch than the iphone one. I mean, should be claim Apple copied Samsung using the same combination of materials as in the K3? Does is really matter? Aren't they all copying from one another? Apple sure has not invented hot water, with none of their products, they just sell it better.
I always wondered what the purpose of a speaker like this is... I mean, it will always sound a bit crappy, won't it? But then, it's still the shuffle we're talking about.
"worse than the worst Chinese player"
I kind of agree to that btw. worse because it costs a lot more than those low cost, rip-off chinese players, while not really offering that much more. I mean, ok we like it minimalistic, but if less is more, not enough is not enough.
The ipod shuffle is the most featureless player out there, it does nothing but play music (and not particularly well), so it's the best choice if you want to create a gadget like this. I mean the shuffle is not a player, it's the idea of an ipod, it's so stripped down that it merely represents a concept... so what better choice if you want to create some luxury thing?
