Dragon Age 2 - Mark of the Assassin Review

Oct 22nd 2011 1:23PM (Joystiq)
I really enjoyed the silliness of MotA the first time I played through it. Unfortunately, I think I picked the most entertaining combination of companions on that trip, cause every other time through was dull as hell. After the first time through, I was looking forward to making multiple trips to see different reactions. I still haven't finished it with all my different versions of Hawke (I have 5) but I seriously doubt I'll go back again once (eventually) I finish my final trip through, which is Hawke #4 and my canon save.

Felicia Day takes us through Dragon Age 2: Mark of the Assassin

@Committed

If you haven't played either, try to start with Origins just for the introduction to the universe the games are in. When you make the jump from one game to the next, though, keep in mind that Thedas is presented much differently in DA2 than DA:O. It's the same world, but through much different eyes. Also, DA2 rewards being decisive IMO. Playing the neutral observer is the least satisfying way to approach the game.

@Diet Kane
I'm more bothered that Felicia Day is just reading lines as herself, not as a character that lives in that world. I don't dislike her in general, but I am extremely... cautious about MotA. :/

@Nenene
Because, as much as I HATED DA2 the first time through, it's really a better game than many gave it credit for. And while I'm not as hopeful for MotA, Legacy at least actually contributed to the overall story and mythos of Thedas very, very well.

I had no interest in this game until now. Oh shits. It might just be on.

That music is definitely reminiscent of old school RPGs, but nothing particular pops out. I wouldn't put money on anything Chrono, though; just doesn't fit the mood of those. My guess is that it's a PSP remake/port of something, since I don't think they have anything left to put port to the DS.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is back from the dead

2P Start this week by far. I've already informed certain friends that, based on their Little Big Planet behavior, they are forbidden from playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii with me.

Also, sadness to some awesome comics from weeks that the Wrapup was silent that won't get representation.

I was only able to have him for homeroom, not an actual class, but he did put together a few fieldtrips for my writer's workshop class in 11th grade. I wish I had him for an actual class, but I also wouldn't trade having Ethridge (can't remember if that's the right spelling for her name or not) for my history class the year I was at SAA. My comment about the dead baby jokes was to indicate there was a side to him that many voting for him likely didn't know about--a side I appreciated.
