Oct 6th 2011 2:25PM (Massively)Recently they had a live event in XIV in which a GM appeared and spoke to players in character about the events. When I caught him, he was speaking German, but I was informed others appeared speaking English/French/Japanese/etc. earlier in the week.
Also their localization team is fantastic.
Now there's still still tension and animosity between groups, but I think the risk is definitely worth the reward.
The Mog Log: Throwing out the barriers
Sep 18th 2011 9:27AM (Massively)I enjoyed leveling in FFXI, and I played when you had to level by grinding mobs in parties. I think it can actually be a more interesting thing then most make it out to be, especially if the battle system is made for it. It can also be tedious, but then so can everything in an MMO.
The Mog Log: Throwing out the barriers
Sep 17th 2011 9:28PM (Massively)Still, FFXI is what it is and I'm happy it still exists in that form. I have fond memories of WoW as well (all post-level cap though), and I like WoW for what it is. I do get disappointed when every single new MMO takes things more or less directly from WoW, while ignoring wonderful things like Skill Chains in FFXI.
I also miss zones that felt scary to enter. Oh, the way to Jeuno my first time was horrifying, and I love it for that.

Sep 15th 2011 10:26AM (Massively)The Daily Grind: People still play that game?
Sep 15th 2011 10:22AM (Massively)Part of the problem playing it now is because PS2s (and backward compatible PS3s) are no longer manufactured! So if your PS2 dies... it could be annoying to find another.
It's really strange. But I also find the fact people still play it really amusing. It makes me happy to see even a game like that continues.
