December NPD: No wonder you're broke this month

Jan 18th 2008 8:52AM (Joystiq)
Where is Bioshock on this list? What is wrong with you people? Mario Party 8? Seriously? And who is still buying PS2 games? Jesus, get a JOB! Some theories point out that the fall of Rapture was due to it's inhabitants not playing Bioshock....America, you've been warned.

Sadness finds a publisher

Oct 3rd 2007 2:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
THANK GOD!!!! I bought the Wii for three reasons: bragging rights, Metroid Prime 3, and Sadness. Now that one is beaten and the other is dying down, it's a huge relief that a publisher (whoever it may be) has been produced. The Wii could reinvigorate the adventure genre like no other console. Indigo Prophecy, a great game showing how contextual movements improve the immersion factor, proves this. It's a shame that the gaming media, who constantly complain about stagnation in the games released, have not given more space in their (mostly paid for) pages to such a fresh take on the genre. New IPs do not necessarily translate to new ideas. Haze, Kane and Lynch, Army of Two, and even to some extent No More Heroes, are games that I feel I've played before. Tampon-bandaging does NOT constitute new gameplay. So, to anyone with authority over such matters, please at least get the word out on this game. With such a struggle the development has surely been, a little press (or more) would go a long way. And Ubisoft, you listening? Publishing this will clear the air of the stink caused by Red Steel and Far Cry (Wii).

TGS hands-on: No More Heroes

Oct 1st 2007 2:27AM (Joystiq)
At least it's coming to the States. With Sadness seemingly dead in the water, No More Heroes is originality's last bastion of hope on the Wii.

A listing of my other entries:
1-The uber-annoying David Cross marine in Halo 2
2-Stubbs the Zombie (Halo engine!) killing me while Ben Kweller sings Lollypop
3-Jack Thompson over Xbox live

Fanswag: Win the ultimate Halo 3 setup

Some missed Halo 3 marketing opportunities: The Official Halo 3 Dradel; The $120 Legendary Halo 3 Pog; and, bypassing the need for "gamer fuel", The Halo 3 High Fructose Corn Syrup. Too bad this is the "last" installment of the franchise. Hey Killzone, ya listening? X3F, you rule!

Jack Thompson in Slayer over Xbox Live. Somehow, no matter how many attempts to avoid him in matchmaking, he would be there. Even worse, the man's voice would be unmutable. Unplugging the headset would only fill your surround sound system with his diatribes. And after the match would be over, he'd use the Live camera to send you stills of gay porn! Tell me: is there ANYONE worse in the Halo universe? I think not.

Fanswag: Win the ultimate Halo 3 setup

Sep 27th 2007 12:16PM (Joystiq Xbox)
In realizing that beating Halo 3 on legendary is as likely as me beating Combat Evolved or Halo 2 on Legendary, my only hope lies in winning this contest so as to better see my failures as a Spartan on a plasma. Thank you!

Joyswag: Joystiq's Legendary Halo 3 Giveaway

Sep 27th 2007 12:13PM (Joystiq)
My first choice would be the David Cross marine in Halo 2. His Annoying-Attack would surely defeat my psyche. However, since that was yesterday's entry, I'm going to have to say Stubbs. Now, I know he's not technically a Halo character, but in "universal" terms, he is on the same engine and dying while listening to Ben Kweller singing "lollypop" is such a pitiful way to go.
