Resident Evil: Not The Movie

And thank god for that.

Developer talks about failing business model for PSP dev

Yes, a lot of hardcore gamers own the DS, and they're the ones using it for piracy. That's why you see just as few games targeted at core gamers on the DS as you do on the PSP.

You're oversimplifying the R4 issue. You say it's as simple as popping in a cart, which is true in a way - but you have to be aware of the existence of that cart, let alone know where to buy one, let alone know where to get the games, install them, etc. My wife and my nieces, all of whom own DS's, have no idea of the existence of such devices.

If women and children own the PSP, it would have a lot more software. But that's not who Sony targeted the device at, and that's not who owns it.

Demographics. The DS appeals to an age group that isn't savvy enough or income-enabled enough to engage in piracy.

There's a reason 95% of the DS software these days is targeted at the 8-14 year old crowd. In reality it gets just as few quality releases targeted at teen and adult gamers as the PSP does.

Left 4 Dead DLC deets soonish?

I too have intermittent lock-up problems. It's a common problem - just Google for it and you'll find a ton of similar complaints.

4GB PSP Entertainment Pack will no longer see release

Oct 28th 2008 10:38AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Wow, it ruined your holiday? You must have a fragile ego.

Just buy a core pack, and a 4GB memory stick, and stop being a drama queen.

The PR speak was obvious code for "No one was going to buy it so we're keeping the pack-in."

Deal: Syphon Filter: Logan's shadow for $10

D'oh!

I just bought this last month. It's a great game and anyone who doesn't already have it should immediately buy it. One of the 4 or 5 best games for the system.

Amazon showers 1600MS points upon Rock Band 2 buyers

Yes it is. You bailed out of the checkout process before getting to the order processing screen. If you had, you'd have seen that there was a -$17.95 credit assigned at the end.

Analyst Pachter says 'blame Japan' for Sony's PSP mis-management

It's pretty obvious that no one in the comments here actually read the article, which made a lot of very reasonable points about the struggles.

Hell, I think half the people here just read the headline and nothing else.

American PC Store update for August 14th

Actually the real big problem is that there are 8 attacks and only 6 buttons. When you go to the in-game map controls menu it expects you to have an L1 and L2, and an R1 and R2.

Consequently there's always 2 attacks that you can't use. Not a huge deal, but it is what it is.

All in all I'm happy I got it. Though the PSP's d-pad doesn't make it very easy to play.

NPD: Over 337k PSP units sold in June

Jul 18th 2008 2:34PM (Joystiq Playstation)
"It's a fact; piracy does not affect sales."

I don't think the word fact means what you think it does.

I think it's hilarious when people like you provide some anecdotal example and jump to the conclusion that it disproves the rule. The fact is that high rates of piracy correlate to low game sales. There are always exceptions to that rule - maybe even a lot of exceptions - but it doesn't change that fact.
