Aug 8th 2006 12:01AM (Engadget HD)Hmm, if the cable companies can really get 100+ Mbps and offer a $30-40 a month unlimited viewing of HiDef movies then Netflix would be in real trouble. As far as HD-DVD and BluRay, some people still like to have a copy of the movie. Can't see that going away this next gen.

Aug 3rd 2006 12:04AM (Engadget HD)Picture quality is very important as it's the primary reason to jump from current DVD. But it doesn't appear to be a huge difference. As someone posted earlier, Betamax supposedly had better picture quality than VHS.
So yes this gives HD-DVD the lead but the the ultimate factors will be price and titles.
I definitely don't care who wins but it's funny that on the Blu-ray fanboys posts you could replace Blu-ray with PS3 and HD-DVD with 360 and it could go right onto the joystiq site.
