My matchmaking seems fine after the latest update.

This isn't a patch that makes the PS2 games work. It basically improves upon the disc swapping feature from the previous games, allowing you to access the content on the disc for use in the PS3 versions engine (which I assume it would cache to the HDD).

If the HDD has all the engine stuff on it, all that needs to be read of the PS2 disc is the music files and ones associated to that (for the lyrics and pitch, etc.).

I found the controls to be a lot better. The main difference is that strafe is on the left stick now, and the right stick turns you. Personally, I thought that got the action flowing a bit better.

Also, you can quick turn. Down + A will do that. Oh, and the boss dudes (Bag-head-chainsaw-guy and the executioner) are tough as hell. Probably didn't help that the AI was controlling my partner...

Good stuff, I loved the original, it was a great improvement over what the Tony Hawk's series had been doing. Plus, January seems like a good time to release this, or at least for me, as my bank account will have recovered from christmas.

Although, it is true that THQ love their money, so mainly deal in licensed kids stuff.

They did Destroy All Humans too...I never played it, so is that good?

Actually, it should translate to a 67 (I think). 1UP has always used 50/5.0 as their average, which is now represented by the C grade. So a B- would probably be around a 67.

The larger problem lies with metacritic. I would say a 67 is favorable, but apparently it's average.

Having said this, the popularity of CoD is at a peek at the moment, so I suppose that this would naturally sell more (or at least quicker) thanks to CoD4.

Although...PS2 version too!
