No, it was more of a strobe. And I was pretty messed up on Surge... it's hard to say one way or the other, really.

TV 101: Why Hulu Plus Will Change The Way You Watch Television

Jul 8th 2010 2:58PM (AOL TV)
Right on, Jay. I'm with you on this. I'm getting rid of cable as soon as they let me subscribe.

@ttringle You're right. We should just stop consuming all content until our demands are met.

Hulu CEO: we're 'complementary' to cable

@ttringle If you have cable, you're already paying for content and viewing ads.

Hulu CEO: we're 'complementary' to cable

Jul 1st 2010 8:56AM (Engadget)
I must be the only one on the planet who is really excited for Hulu plus. I did the math; if I drop my cable plan (and likewise, my cable internet which allows me to switch to cheaper DSL) and add Playstation Plus and Hulu Plus, then I'm going to save over $25 a month, and that includes having to buy three different shows on iTunes as they are released. (ie Content not available on Hulu). I pay much much more than $10 a month for cable, I hardly get anything out of it, and well over half of the content is advertising.

Regardless of what the Hulu CEO says, this is absolutely a cable replacement for me. The second they let me pay for it, I'm making the switch.

Shows You Should Be Watching: 'InfoMania'

It's also worth noting that infoMania makes itself available for free as an iTunes video podcast, as well as putting their episodes on hulu, youtube, and current's websites.

Shows You Should Be Watching: 'InfoMania'

I've been watching this show weekly on Hulu for about 6-9 months now. It's appointment TV for me. The cast is so damned funny that I rewatch episodes on a regular basis. Good call, TV Squad.

The Next Iron Chef: Season Premiere

Oct 5th 2009 8:36AM (AOL TV)
Yesterday I was watching Food Network (we had just gotten our cable package back after a year hiatus) and I saw the commercial for TNIC and thought to myself "I haven't gotten into a good reality show for awhile, and I love Iron Chef - I should celebrate our glorious return to cable by watching this show."

So at 8 PM central, my wife and I settled down into our basement and watched this show.

Overall? I liked it. I thought it was a bit more melodramatic than other reality shows I've enjoyed. I know that reality shows live and die by their bickering between contestants, but it felt pretty forced when I saw them bad mouthing each other during the first tasting.

They already have their personality archetypes in place (the arrogant one, the snooty one, the sensitive one) but all of them are immensely talented. I think this is my first reality show where the contestants actually are not just randomly selected people, but rather successful and very skilled before they even come in.

Looking forward to watching more of this. Glad to see that TV Squad was paying attention to this show.
