As a DJ I passed on the 1st one due to the controller being entirely unrealistic. At least the fret keys and the strum bar on guitar hero controllers make sense from an emulation standpoint. Buttons ON vinyl? not so much. Change the controller and you might get the interest of the authentic market that isn't just interested in cashing in on your franchise Activision.
This is why the USA needs to calm the hell down, it's so puritan and uptight it can take a simple and fun/sexy commercial (silly as it may be) and turn it in to an "omg sexist" accusation.
I think the point was merely that in a game where the playing field is supposed to be determined via in game decisions and participation in the game economy, they don't want to futz it up by letting richie riches come to some store, run his daddy's credit card and instantly have a badass character that surpasses what some other dude worked for in a legit "game" manner.
one played a game, the other bought a virtual barbie to take a dump all over the other person's accomplishment in the game.
at least in wow, the advantage is never given to the superficial richie riches.
that said, I tire of the MMO model. I hate it, it ruins games, it ruins the life of other genres which that game came from.
I'll eat my words if you ever see a Warcraft 4 RTS, or when fallout finally comes out with theirs, if they ever come out with a single player fallout game (shooter/strategy/rpg, that game gets around)
you know, it's amazing, all it takes to be a good game publisher is to actually know about what it is you're selling. I get the feeling the old THQ was run by someone who just didn't have a clue what gamers liked.
Now if only Namco could do the same, they freaking had a potential cash cow of awesome on their hands when they picked up xenogears (squaresoft), they were supposed to make 6 or 7 prequels in the xenosaga franchise and totally screwed it up so bad that they couldn't even afford to continue the franchise.
That's one property I'd like to see a good developer pick up, after that disaster they call FFXIII I don't even know if I'd trust square with it again.
