Oct 6th 2006 11:52AM (Joystiq)I'll be importing both my Wii and PS3 so that I avoid the price and time difference.
Sony have botched both the PS2 and PSP lauches in Europe in a big way, and hearing comments like this makes it sound like "I wouldn't know if any European gamers care that we repeatedly screw them over, because we don't care enough to ask them."
Revolution to have 'extensive' 3rd party support
Apr 25th 2006 2:25AM (Joystiq)However the large amount of architectural differences between just the the 360 and PS3 it seems unlikely that we'll see the same glut of cross platform games which we saw with the last generation.
I expect it will take quite a while this time around for the renderwares of this world to come up with a suitably optimised performance for all architectures to sate any of the 3 consoles quality expectant consumers.
Super Mario Revolution sighting, maybe
Apr 24th 2006 2:25PM (Joystiq)Besides which I've used photoshop for ten years and work as a graphic designer, I'd still hate to jump on these images and call fake though.
there is however a couple of things to point out with the images.
1. mario appears to be an odd shape in the rooftop image, this could of course be explained through motion. impossible to tell.
2. the same image has stars over the top of houses, any PS user with just a little knowledge wouldn't leave something so glaring in, so I really can't think why they might be there.
3. Yoshi looks a little tacked on, however this can happen a lot with early screens coming out of any studio as they usually get cleaned up in PS before release. This I'd say is the least convincing part, yet still not conclusive.
4. the scanlines in the day scene look to be disproportionate to what you might find on a "normal"(something over 19inch) TV and can be easily added in photoshop. however it's also possible that it's a cropped image and we're not seeing the whole of the screen.
5. transparent mario? well your guess is as good as mine as to why he's transparent all I know is I wouldn't have made him transparent.
I know that's inconclusive but that's just the point I'm trying to make. I've seen so many people trying to pick apart the images over the weekend who clearly don't have a clue and claiming that their knowledge makes it definately fake or real.
You'll all know one way or another in a fortnight.
Well, I'm moving house for the next two days so I look forward to reading all the flaming about this when I'm next online.
Project Gray Company: EA's next gen RPG
Apr 23rd 2006 5:01PM (Joystiq)A whole year?!?! Wow it's gonna be the bestest of all RPG's then with such a lengthy dev period!!!!
The thing is EA probably think that spending over a year on a game is a massive amount of time.Dicks.

Apr 20th 2006 6:27AM (Joystiq)I also find the attitude of trying to track down and sue the makers a tad naieve, it only forms to publicise the product which is obviously going to vanish into obscurity much quicker without legal action.
Revolution's virtual console: to rent or own?
Apr 19th 2006 4:46PM (Joystiq)Useing subscriptions alienates a huge market who either can't afford/don't want a credit card, or simply don't want to input their details online.
Also if a obvious charge system is implemented as opposed to the "it's just stars" mentality it will simply encourage people back to downloading roms for free. It's the whole Disney dollars concept which has been used so well in many other markets before, creating a mental cushion for the harshness of spending reality.
