Wow, these are stupid. Avatars are nothing but a bastardized clusterfuck of Miis and Home. I sure hope they're optional. I bought an Xbox because I wanted nothing to do with this casual gaming trend.

Ubisoft opening new studio in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Why doesn't Ubisoft commission a soccer franchise to be developed at their Sao Paulo studio? A Brazilian developer would make the best soccer game in the history of ever.

I'll take your garbage off your hands, Joystiq. Your garbage is the game that was going to warrant my future PS3 purchase anyway.

Robbie Bach: broken Xbox 360s did not affect brand preference

Jun 13th 2008 1:33PM (Joystiq)
Well, I happen to be a launch day console owner and like some other people here have mentioned, this is total non-sense. My 360 broke once when I thought it would pull through. Sure, it had an occasional freeze-up but it was no more frequent than any other console I've had. The tilt sensor was busted, but it didn't bother me enough to give up on the 'box. Finally, back in February of this year the launch console, which I believed to be the little engine that could of faulty launch consoles, kicked the bucket due to a fried GPU. That means I had to plunk down $110 CAD to get the sucker repaired. Honestly, I could've had a launch PS3 for the money I've sunk into Microsoft's hardware alone... Just saying. Anywho, now I've got a refurb and for the four months I've had it I've had no problems, but I'm being cautious. I continued dealing with Xbox 360 because I have to. I've invested so much in it in terms of games and enjoy it a lot when it works the way it's supposed to. It's kind of like Vista. You know it's good in theory and they did a lot right, but in actual application it has its fair share of problems. The 360 is a fine gaming machine and definitely enjoyable (that's why I bought one), it's just that the hardware is absolute garbage in comparison to pretty much every other console ever released. What happened, Microsoft? The original Xbox was a brick.

This generation has hurt my confidence in the Xbox brand. You bet your ass I'm not getting the next Xbox on launch day like I did for the 360. It's as if every single Xbox 360 was built like a ticking time bomb. It's not a question of if your console will die. It's a question of when it will die.
