Wii Fanboy Review: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Mar 11th 2008 3:35PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The game starts. You hit combinations of buttons until people fly off the platforms. The game ends and someone has won for some reason. Repeat.

That's fun? Hmm. OK, I suppose for some people it is. I suppose I just prefer adventure games with puzzles, stories, and some strategy. You know, get the brain working a little bit.

Wii Fanboy Review: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Umm... ok, it's fun for a while, but best game on the Wii? Not hardly. Metroid 3 is engrossing, creative, and well-done. I got Brawl on Sunday and I'm already bored. Maybe I'm just getting old, but button-mashers just don't do it for me. Now I'll go back to playing Galaxy, thank you very much.

Wii Warm Up: Supply and demand

Sep 17th 2007 8:52AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Here in the D.C. area they are still sold out everywhere. I was fortunate enough to get mine on launch day from Amazon, but otherwise I'd still be waiting. I know some people have been able to get them Sunday mornings at the Targets, Best Buys because that seems to be the delivery day. I've yet to see a Wii on the shelf anywhere, though.

Wii Warm Up: The best and the worst

So, yeah, I have the sensor bar position set right in the Wii settings, and it works perfectly in the Wii menu and Wii sports... It just seems as though in MP3 it doesn't use the setting that I set with the sensor bar at the bottom.. . instead, it's like it assumes the sensor bar is in the *middle* of the TV... so therefore I have to point down more to compensate. I can't move my sensor bar to the top of the TV because I have a glass coffee table, and it'll actually pick up the reflection in the table and mess up the positioning... Oh well. I was just hoping for an adjustment like I think Zelda has so move the "center" up or down a bit.

Wii Warm Up: The best and the worst

I absolutely love the game, and have about 8 hours in so far. My ONLY complaint is with the pointer calibration. For some reason it treats the sensor bar location more like the center of the TV, so I find I have to keep pointing too far down. After a while, it hurts my wrist. I wish there was a way like in Zelda to adjust the center position to move it up where it should be. Do others have this issue? I have a 56" TV with the sensor bar the *bottom*. I'd like to hear from others...

Wii Warm Up: How many hours have you sunk in so far?

Aug 29th 2007 11:15AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
@Germ: You can certainly play this without 1 and 2, but it of course would make little more sense with the Dark Samus thing.

I would recommend some time just grabbing used copies of MP1 and 2 and play 'em in your Wii (you need to get a gamecube controller, though). You can probably find them for $5-$10.

Got about 5 hours of play in last night.. but I'm taking my time. Not trying to rush through. It's an amazing game. The controls feel so natural now; I can't imagine how people put up with dual analog for FPS.

Amazon delays shipping copies of Metroid Prime 3

They pushed mine back to Sept 9th, so I cancelled and got it this morning at Best Buy. Oh well, their loss.

Wii Warm Up: Are you in or are you out?

Aug 28th 2007 10:35AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Just picked it up. Now somehow I have to make it through the rest of my work day until I can play this evening. D'oh!

I just don't understand how someone can own a Wii but not get this game. Oh well...

Wii Warm Up: How often ...

Aug 23rd 2007 9:27AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Most of my Wii playing time has been VC games. Lately it's been Metroid and Super Metroid, of course, but before then mostly SNES games. I have about 12 VC games right now.

Of course next week things will swing as Metroid Prime 3 Corruption takes over all my Wii time.
