Final Fantasy XIII-2 announced, coming to 360 and PS3

Jan 22nd 2011 8:45PM (Joystiq)Sure it was watered down. That's why it's considered a localization rather than a straight translation. They needed to adapt it to American market. It is understandable that they wanted the show to succeed, and that would mean leaving out anything potentially controversial (Homoerotic Themes, Nudity, Subtle Sexuality). As an adult, i totally understand why they left that out. It wasn't being produced for Adult Swim, it was being produced for children's animation blocks before or after school.
You're right that the original is far funnier (i sought out the original years later just to compare). But the American version is well done and important in its own right.

Jan 7th 2011 2:14AM (Joystiq)Granted, the initial pricing was a slap in the face ($50 less than a PS3, get real), but once the go prices came down to $150 (which seems to be the case everywhere i go). It's a good deal (especially with the $80 worth of games they throw in). $150 seems to be the sweet spot for this machine. If they can bring the price down further, even better.
I can tell you from experience, I'm not disapointed with the stock battery life of the psp go. It's more than fine, lasts as long as an extended battery charge for psp1000. This essentially makes having to buy a new battery a moot cause.
The truth is classic psp users were NEVER supposed to migrate to the PSP Go.. I think Sony should have done a better job communicating that to their consumers. If you had a UMG library, it made no sense to buy the Go. If you didnt, well then, really the Go was an attractive option. The sales for PSP games have been pretty generous on PSN. (50% off valkriye chronicles 2 & phantasy star 2, $10 for dissidia, $10 for killzone liberation, $20 for Persona 3 Portable (50% off)... Sony seems to be taking the right cues from steam in terms of sales.
In terms of incompatabile accessories, like i said. this wasn't for migrating users. New accessory cables made sense because, the all in one propietary port was the port that did everything (TV output, data syncing, usb charging, etc etc). None of those things were possible through the micro usb cable used in the original psp models. Shit, you couldn't even save your state or charge via usb on the classic PSP's.. That in itself is a value to me.
I own a CFW PSP1000, for homebrew only (seriously). And it's been collecting dust since i bought my Go. And yes, i purchase all my games legally from the PSN store.
It's only pointless if you're not the target audience. Being that I prefer digital distribution, hate tangible media for portable gaming, the psp go is an amazing little machine. Clearly, people are interested in digitally distributed mobile games. They pirated the hell out of the psp. The psp scene never minded filling their memory sticks with games. So clearly, getting rid of UMD's was not an issue for many gamers.
PSP Go hacked to load game ISOs
Jan 6th 2011 11:44PM (Joystiq)i've owned the go for about 9 months now and it is far and away the best, sleekest and best model of the psp so far. seriously, my psp 1000 collects dust now.
SECOND POINT,
stop blaming sony when software doesnt get released on the psn store. it is not their decision to release square enix games on the store. this is stupidly the decision of square enix who has always been resistent to digital distribution
SOMETHING, tells me they'll be backing a truck into the psn store and dumping all their games on the psn store PRETTY soon though.
if you dont give people what they want, they will find a way to do it.
