New image from Master Chief's Monday Night invasion

You really don't want to get hit by Richard Seymour either, lest you value your internal organs. That's 6'6", 300-plus pounds of hurt comin' atcha.

Unless of course, you're drivin' a Warthog.

Metareview - Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

Nov 29th 2006 10:37PM (Joystiq)
@Kamlaot, EverQuest's lore might not be as richly detailed as LOTR and the realms of D&D (or even Warcraft), but it's been around for almost eight years and has more recognizable characters, races, and kingdoms than Untold Legends. UL is a throwaway fantasy setting that should have been scrapped in favor of Norrath, Vah Shir berserkers, and Firiona Vie.

Star Wars PC collection ships next week

I agree, Rebellion along with Force Commander, Galactic Battlegrounds, and Masters of Teras Kasi, were probably the worst SW games ever.

It would be cool if they came out with a 90s mega collection. I would like to see X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, Rebel Assault 1&2, Dark Forces 1&2, Rogue Squadron, Shadows of the Empire, and Episode 1 Racer. That's a lot of games, but they're old and don't take up nearly as much disc space as today's games. You could pack 'em on to a DVD or two.

If you don't already own these games, $40 is a good price to get Battlefront, KoTOR, and Empire at War. Jedi Knight II wasn't that bad either, although I preferred Jedi Academy. It's about time they did a new compilation. It's been nine years since the last Archive collection came out.

1UP zings Neverwinter Nights 2 (again)

Hey Jeff, in case you hadn't noticed, it's a free country. Your right to publicly dis a game that many people enjoy are the very same rights that allow us to call your review a jaded piece of shit and a cover-up to protect an even shittier writer on your staff.

Buy PC Gamer, folks. It's a better mag.

1UP zings Neverwinter Nights 2 (again)

I still think 6 is a little too low for this game. Based on their criticisms, it was probably more deserving of at least a 7 or a 7.5. Green seems to have gone a little overboard in describing the camera and A.I. problems -- which were acknowledged in other reviews, but not to the degree of overkill. He probably did this so he could give the game a score closer to Peckham's.

PlayStation 3 = 4,000 yuan (plus airfare)

Nov 13th 2006 8:27PM (Joystiq)
Adam, you're as gullible as the rest, but Killroy might be on to something. This is probably pure Sony/media spin to justify shortages. If someone gave you $600 to stand in line, would you actually do it, or would you take the money and run? You think businessman actually paid people to stand in line for hours? How could they be sure the person wouldn't just leave with their cash? They obviously didn't watch them the whole time or they would just stand in line themselves.

And then the obvious question: HOW DO YOU KNOW HE DIDN'T BUY ANY GAMES?? Were any of you actually there? As one commenter already said, all of the referenced online resources are reporting this secondhand. BTW, BusinessWeek exists to make $$ like any other company. Don't believe everything you read.

Heroes V: Hammers of Fate goes gold

Nov 12th 2006 9:27PM (Joystiq)
My friend demoed HOMM V for me and it looks pretty cool. Not sure if a single new faction is worth $30, though. The new Dawn of War expansion adds three factions for the same price (and doesn't even require the core game). Ubisoft should put out a HOMM V gold collection in the Spring.

D&D Tactics coming soon to PSP

Nov 9th 2006 1:30PM (Joystiq)
@Jecrell, according to the article, you can auto-select a lot of these details to speed things up. The customization is there for D&D fanboys who want to use it.

Editor explains retracted NWN2 review

Nov 7th 2006 7:11PM (Joystiq)
Thank you for making my point, gehrig. You're right, Peckham thought NWN2 was boring because it followed certain rules that make a D&D game a D&D game. Knowing that he already hates the D&D sub-genre before he even plays NWN2, does the game have any prayer of receiving a good, or even a decent score? Will it get a fair shake? Absolutely not, as the editor for the magazine made perfectly clear, and I agree with his decision to yank the review.

If you want to see negative comments about NWN2 that are appropriate and within context, read the other reviews. They cite plenty of flaws without bashing the genre.
