New Mexico legislators consider video game tax for outdoor programs

Jan 26th 2008 10:11PM (Joystiq)
Unlike bills that have a chance to pass, this bill was introduced by a single legislator and not cosponsored by anyone. It's more a publicity statement than a law that will affect New Mexicans in any way. You can tell from the fact that they sent out a press release before actually introducing it in the house.

Smash Bros. Brawl to include classic game demos

Jan 25th 2008 9:02AM (Joystiq)
I'm one of the few who didn't have much interest in Brawl. But the news of Olimar and now this are starting to get pretty tempting.

Rock Band standalone instruments dated, priced

Jan 25th 2008 7:21AM (Joystiq)
While Guitar Hero III may be selling a whole lot more, and may have peripherals that work, Rock Band at least appeals to dicks. (Judging from the comments here.) I guess that's something, right? The fratboy market needs pandering too, right?

Activision was #1 US publisher in 2007

Rock Band makes Guitar Hero III a thing of the past?

Sorry, Rock Band sold less than a million across all systems, while Guitar Hero III sold six million across all systems.

People who bought Rock Band spent $170 for some pieces of plastic and a relatively modest track list. Of course they're buying downloadable songs. What else can they do? People who bought Guitar Hero III are, you know, playing it.

Resistance 2 to feature 60-player online, 8-player co-op, 2 campaigns

Who the hell marked this up three separate times? I thought duplicate posts normally got marked down.

GameTap Thursday: A new Sam & Max, what Moai could you ask for?

Jan 10th 2008 6:18PM (Joystiq)
Sam & Max is broken today. Tried to download it, and got some weird error message about mounting failing. They say it'll work tonight.

Hothead Games to publish Ron Gilbert's 'DeathSpank'

Jan 9th 2008 2:59PM (Joystiq)
I don't care about the RPG aspects, I just want a new episodic adventure game, especially with Gilbert involved. Sam & Max has got me addicted: I didn't realize how hard it was going without a new LucasArts adventure game for 8 years.

Strangely I still don't give a damn about Penny Arcade's game, Gilbert or not.

Rumorang: Goldeneye coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Jan 9th 2008 11:14AM (Joystiq)
I don't put any faith in rumors, and I don't care about Goldeneye, but if this means the original Banjo games could come out on XBLA, it might give me another reason to get a 360. (So far I only have one: Banjo 3.)

Man shoots son over Xbox 360 argument

Yep. Used to be mine too, and this story reminds me why I moved out of the hellhole of rural eastern Pennsylvania.
