First Look: Scannerless scanning with Creaceed Prizmo

Apr 22nd 2009 3:11PM (TUAW.com)
I think there must be a giant conspiracy going on with all these retail vendors because I've noticed that MANY of my receipts start to fade when just sitting in a pile on my desk. During tax time I sometimes have a heck of a time just trying to decipher what they were for.
I would scan all these and if I ever needed to return something, or show it for warranty or rebate purposes, I'd have a nice printed out version. Then they would just stand their scratching their collective heads trying to figure out how I got past their magic invisible ink receipts.

@peternj

You're criticizing Apple for not having a rainbow of color offering for their computers?!? That's so 90s, been there done that. How old are you?

Survey finds Apple users have sense of superiority -- no wait, hear us out

Wow what a bunch of mean comments. Why don't we all just attack each other? Sounds like there's a bunch of self-righteous, self-assured individuals in here. I wonder what a survey of this group would show?

Survey finds Apple users have sense of superiority -- no wait, hear us out

It's a shame such surveys and arguments like in this forum even exist. I've been using Macs since 1986 and have helped numerous PC users switch to Macs over the years. These people are of all ages and gender and I don't think fall within this category. Up until the Intel Macs I would recommend PCs to people who wanted to get into heavy gaming. I have Linux and Windows friends and we all discuss computer topics between us without fighting who's better. At work I'm the lone Mac user (graphics/video) and most of the IT staff like talking to me about Macs and in recent years many have asked me about them for home use. I think my open non-combative disposition makes them feel unthreatened. I think most of this bantering comes from the immature. It's time to grow up people and get along.

Apple's Jobs hits his magnum opus: Microsoft's Gates retiring with a whimper

Kamujin you have a real chip on your shoulder and are spreading misinformation. Just because someone you know called you stupid doesn't mean you should group all Mac user into one group. I've been a Mac and PC user professionaly since 1987 and use them side by side daily, so I speak with some knowledge behind my belt. The current Macs use Intel processors and are capable of running ALL major software including Windows apps natively or under virtualization. I've used MS multi-button mice on all my Macs and have advised other Mac user to do so as well, I find them very useful, especially when surfing the web.
The fact is ALL companies use ideas they see other companies using. Apple just happens to be very good at implementing an idea better then most other companies including Microsoft. Apple has brought more innovation to the market then any other PC company. Because OSX is based on a very stable, secure Unix underpinning and has the most intuative interface you WILL see more and more people choosing Macs as their computer of choice, I've seen it happening and the regular increase in marketshare month after month, year after year backs this up. I personally would not want any one company to have a monopoly on the PC market, including Apple. Competition is good and keeps innovation moving forward.

Apple's official Mac gaming solution: Windows

I am a Mac and PC user as well, have been since 1989. I'm the local Mac tech guy and do all the upgrades and troubleshooting. I'm a video production/graphic designer by profession.
I have two grown sons who grew up with me using Macs mostly. One has gone on to use PCs because games are his priority, the other still uses Macs.
There really are a lot of the old Mac myths still out there and being passed down from generation to generation. Just do your research to find out what a current Mac are capable of, don't just assume, you will be surprised.
Macs have run Linux for years and now they will run Windows at native speed, unlike the molasses running Virtual PC. There is also a Linux software being ported to Mac called WINE which will run Windows software on the Mac without needing to install Windows. I'm looking forward to this as I like having both environment active at the same time like with VPC. I'm hoping one day Apple adds this to their OS.

If you like to tinker with your computer then you would be more interested in a Mac tower, it still amazes me how many people think all Macs are all-in-ones.
You will be amazed at how easy it is to partition drives and install the OS, it's been this way for a long time. You could partition your drive into three partitions and install a 3 major OSes onto your machine for tru versitility.

This IS a very important move on Apple's part in my opinion because it WILL mean greater market share. People will be buying Macs primarily to run OS X. This larger group of Mac user WILL demand native application support from the developers and if they don't listen other developers will and they will make the money. This is good.

Please be patient with the so-called "zealots" who have used Macs. They may come across as fanatic or defensive at times. This is ONLY because the world of PC users have for so many years talked down to us for using Macs. Believe me I have heard it all. I see it often in the IT field. Personally I just try to educate these people instead of getting defensive with their groundless comments.
And to tell you the truth it seems to be getting worse since OS X came out and Intel went inside and brought Macs back into the enterprise market. There are lot of businesses switching to Macs, and not just in the design market, and this seems to worry the Windows trained professionals.
