Obsidian CEO laments Fallout: New Vegas' 'glitchy' launch, working on better QA for Dungeon Siege 3

@The Only Girl

I completely agree that some companies do a much better job, of those I tend to buy on release. LA Noire is a good example. I'm sure there may be some quirks (like RDR before it) but they will be small, they will not ruin the ability to play the game, and I buy them on release with confidence in that.

Bioware games are in a similar boat.

I skip games like this at launch because of bugs... I accept that bugs exist in large games and give a company time to iron them out (this is a lesson I learned WAY back in Fallout 2 ironically enough)

What I find inexcusable is a patch 6 months after launch that breaks saves and triples load times.

Never will Obsidian get a penny from me.

@jynxycat

Exactly.

KOTOR 2 was similar to Fallout New Vegas in the adding some really neat ellements that make everything kinda cooler, and then short changing the entire game in some other way.
In KOTOR 2 it was the incomprehensible ending. In Fallout NewVegas it's the ludicrous number of bugs at every level.

As a studio they have potential, some good ideas, and add things that make games cooler... but their follow through and completion of a project is miserable.

I downloaded it yesterday, Stopped all my saved games from loading.

I went into Data storage management and deleted the update (and all others) and was able to load my game and play.

This is the last game I will ever purchase that Obsidian has anything to do with. Fool me twice and all.

I've been having troubles all week. Login fails when I start up, but I'm able to login from the menu.

Today of course I can't login at all.

Why 4 and code Veronica?

Really Capcom do a full re-program of 2 and I'm in.

Loved the Powerstone,

Bought an import Dreamcast to get it early and for Soul Calibur... but Powerstone really took me away!

I can live without this one for a bit.

I am going out today and spending my gaming moneys on games published by Japanese companies. I figure if I can use my habit to support the economy there that's at least a little something.

Not intrepidness in Pirating at all... I like to support Developers,

But if they get to a place where they've made Media center software sorted out, get some better and more robust streaming options, Open up all of Hulu, maybe even create a DVR solution... I'll be in line to buy me another PS3 to build up a new media center hub.
