Feb 11th 2010 12:27PM (Engadget)That's the biggest question I have about Android tablets: with app compatibility being spotty just between the different handsets, will tablets be totally shut out?
I want to know that most apps and some games will run on this device like any other.
The 2009 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Most Anticipated Gadget of 2010
Jan 13th 2010 11:57PM (Engadget)The Notion Ink Adam has officially killed any hype I had for an apple tablet, the ability to read websites and watch 1080p in the sunlight, coupled with the smoothness of the Tegra chip and a subsidized promise of $300 has me beyond excited. Android has been hamstrung by qualcom chips for too long and I think Tegra will mark a renaissance for the platform, especially since apple has yet to show up with hardware that competes.
Android is still not the ideal tablet OS, but if notion ink keeps with custom apps it could certainly get close. The fact is this is EXACTLY the hardware I want in a tablet, a screen that does both monochromatic reading and bright video playback with ease, and a fast, efficient processor. If apple cannot at least match the hardware Notion Ink is putting out, they'd better stay home.
Exclusive: Google Nexus One hands-on, video, and first impressions
Jan 4th 2010 1:06PM (Engadget)Android is the definitive platform for retrogaming, but any sluggish handset can run most old games adequately - and you need a keypad to do it right, anyway. 3d performance - and a zippy touch interface - will go a long way to bridging the gap between phones and consoles.
I don't expect any phone to reinvent the polygon-spewing wheel before tegra2 handsets start dropping, but any progress in that direction is great news.

Dec 16th 2009 8:07PM (Engadget)They don't want to pay $15 a month to get their asses handed to them. It makes online play a hardcore-only feature. Casual users just don't bother to try it out.
Sony want its casual users online, buying trinkets in HOME, it would be contrary to their whole philosophy to start charging for it. It would be like Nintendo saying no more Mario this generation.
