GOG.com's Guillaume Rambourg explains what happened last week

Sep 27th 2010 3:33PM (Joystiq)
"And even though the reaction hasn't been 100 percent positive, Rambourg said he'd do the same thing all over again given the chance."

diiiiiiiiiicccccckkkkkkkksssssss

I super-duper hate that they're using the whole thing as "oh look how great it is that you could have saved it and don't have to worry about DRM". Thanks for missing half the point about why we buy stuff from you. It'll be a long, long time, if ever, before I provide such a rude and customer-service oblivious group any more of my money.

Wanted - New TV Show Ideas

Ever read http://www.factcheck.org ? They do analysis of political issues, verifying that which political figures say or disproving it. I'd like to see a show take that analysis and objectivity and turn it toward discussion of world topics such as politics, science, current events, religion, etc. In it, there would be rational discussion on topics, with both sides of an argument and the pros and cons of each side honestly acknowledged. Have a panel of experts, and on staff researchers that can ask the critical issues on the topic.

It's the counterpoint to Bill OReilly and Crossfire and extremist polarizing opinions. It's a rational discussion which gives the viewer enough information that allows them to draw their own conclusions. Public feedback could even play in if desired.

Subpoenas and Gootube

Mark, as for a technical explanation of why youtube can block a re-upload, they probably record a MD5 checksum (essentially, fingerprint of that *precise* file, subtract a second of video and it changes) of violating material and just block something w/ that checksum.

So they're using notification to block further upload of that item, which seems to be consistent w/ safe harbor as far as I can tell.

Sony's T30 7.2 megapixel ultracompact

Memory stick really isn't that big of a deal. With the advent of the PSP, memory has really dropped and I've seen 2gb for ~100. That's not bad in my book.

Also, #8, that's really strange. I've had really, really good experience w/ my T7 in a variety of situations. Are you sure you're using the right settings beyond just auto?
