Impressions: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Wii)

Feb 25th 2010 6:45PM (Joystiq)
The question I would want to ask the viewer is how do the graphics you saw running at that sweetly locked 60fps look in comparison to the controversial screen shots that were released not too long ago? Did the overall presentation on the graphics side on the Wii look good AND run at 60fpc? I mean, I know its not going to be any photo-realistic outing like you'll likely find on the more powerful systems, but that doesn't mean it can't look good on the Wii.

Monster Hunter Tri releases April 20, will be free to play [update]

Feb 24th 2010 2:38PM (Joystiq)
Nintendolife also just said in their article about this that WiiSpeak IS confirmed for the NA release! So...no friend codes online play...WiiSpeak support...free online...damn, this year is getting better and better for Nintendo... Started off with a bang...and it looks to keep on rolling! Now, I can't WAIT to see what kind of bomb they'll have to set off at E3!!

Ghost Recon also headed to Wii, PSP, and DS; Wii version developed by a different team

Feb 9th 2010 3:31PM (Joystiq)
I think this could go either way with "will be done by a different team". It works for Infinity Ward and Treyarch when it comes to the CoD games. And Treyarch just seems to keep getting better with each one (WaW and MW:R are both good games that IW would insist couldn't be done on the Wii). So I shall wait and see what will come of this before making a decision one way or another.

Phoenix Wright delivering Justice for All on February 15

Feb 5th 2010 3:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Just because it was played years ago doesn't mean it isn't a good game still. I love the Phoenix Wright games, and still go back and replay them every now and again (only have the original now, but still play it) to experience the stories. They are still as good now as they were back then.

High Voltage Studios reveals The Grinder to be multiplatform

Feb 5th 2010 3:01PM (Joystiq)
I think the Conduit was a solid title for the Wii. Was it the absolute best, perfect FPS out there? No. Could it drag on a bit in the single player game? Somewhat. However, Conduit allowed them to perfect their control scheme for FPS games. A control style, might I add, that has since been adopted since then by other companies (MW:Reflex has a large control adjustment set up, and so will Red Steele 2). They put a lot of work into Conduit, and I think that will show up in The Grinder. From the trailer, the graphics have already come a long way from the short demo showed off previously. The game looks to have atmosphere, which many derivative FPS games these days really seem to kind of lack. If they can make a good looking FPS, with Conduit-like controls, and a good story to back it up, along with the the split-screen/co-op mutliplayer they have been promising, I think the Grinder will be great on any system. I'm interested in seeing how far they've come with the Quantum 3 engine, as they said after Conduit they had already found things to do with the engine they didn't realize they could while making Conduit. Am I sad to see a Wii exclusive going to other platforms? Sure. But if it turns out to be a good game, then the more that can experience it the better.

Metareview: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

Jan 31st 2010 5:20PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I agree completely kid_ic. The Wii is off to a great start this year with a lineup like its had. I hope they can continue with the hits throughout the year. Also, it sounds like we'll be getting at least a bit more info on Zelda and Metroid at this years E3, too. Keep the Wii hits rolling along (just can't afford to pick up too many at launch, unforunately)!

Climax: We want to make another Silent Hill

I agree. SH:SM is a great game and I would love to see Climax be able to take it further.

Red Steel 2 coming March 23, Ubisoft site says

Jan 19th 2010 10:05PM (Joystiq)
From previews of the game and hands-on examples before, I believe its already been shown that you can swap out between sword and gun at any time while playing. Of course, some of those pesky ninja types may be able to use sword skills to block said bullets...but that won't stop you pulling it out and going "Indian Jones" on them. :)
