Laser etcher plays the Mario theme for you

Nov 16th 2009 11:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I've been a BoingBoing reader for many years, and have mostly enjoyed Cory Doctorow's fiction, but I agree: Sometimes the man just gets on your nerves. This is one of those times. Anybody know where we can get an un-awesomesauced video of the Super Mario Etcher in action?

The Beatles: Rock Band visits Abbey Road

I'm amused by the part where the kid hands George Harrison a guitar, and he stares at it with an odd, quizzical gleam in his eye, almost like a caveman discovering fire for the first time.

Good idea for an ad, not so much on the execution. Of course, this being a video game advertisement, you'll probably see it on TV no more than twice before it disappears completely.

Rock Band 2 wastin' away again in DLC-taville

Jan 20th 2009 7:56PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Mine's linked right now. As long as you've got the correct ID number for your Wii (check it from your Wii Menu Message Board) and the access code from the Rock Band 2 disc (check it from the Extras menu), you ought to be in like Flynn. Depending on how your Wii gets onto the internet, that might be borking the linking process for you.

Rock Band 2 wastin' away again in DLC-taville

Spike pretty much summed it up in a nutshell, but here's the expanded version as I see it:

Although the Wii version of RB1 had some great gameplay, it was kind of a drag not being able to use a GH guitar with it, a problem that was remedied with RB2.

Speaking as somebody who bought GH:World Tour for the instruments (which I feel are a lot sturdier/more ergonomic than the RB periphs) and got the standalone RB2 disc for Xmas, I'm glad as anything that EA/MTV/HMX is making some of the RB1 stuff available to Wii owners who skipped the first game for compatibility reasons. You're not being forced to buy the repeat DLC, but it is nice for the rest of us who didn't get a chance previously.

That said, I'm off to pick up some Wii points so's I can start playing me some freakin' Ramones right the hell NOW.

Throw shapes to the Boogie Superstar tracklist

Dugg for the inclusion of Chromeo. Fancy Footwork was actually one of my favorite records from last year; it reminded me of the sort of music that they used to play at our elementary school roller-rink parties back in the day. Girly, yes, but mostly just fun.

Rock Band Track Pack no replacement for DLC, available July

Am I the only one who thought the original post was being sarcastic? This actually sounds like a great solution for bringing DLC to the Wii. Now if only Activision would get it together and bring Guitar Hero 1+2+DLC to the Wii as well, we'd have some real competition going there.

Homemade No More Heroes beam katana contradicts the game's title

Nov 8th 2007 10:47PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I hate to break this to everyone, but that "homemade" beam katana is pretty much just a Master Replicas Anakin Skywalker lightsaber with extra doodads glued to it. Nice costume, but credit where credit is due...
