Aug 28th 2009 5:44PM (AOL TV)BREAKING: Warner Bros Confirms Superman Reboot!
Aug 22nd 2008 1:20PM (Cinematical)But dark? No. Superman's not a dark character. He's the balance to Batman. I think this idea is going to be cast away pretty quickly once they start the script process.
But this is great news because now the modern forms of the characters — especially Lex Luthor — can be brought into play.
I don't think you need an elaborate retelling of Superman's origin though. Keep it concise and get to the story quickly.
A passing mention of Batman or any of the other characters would be cool, but not necessary.
(Bah, and don't worry about the typos. I'm used to working on a deadline and when news breaks, mistakes can happen. That's why there's editing tools.)
Creepy Early Concept Art For Ledger's Joker
Aug 8th 2008 1:58PM (Cinematical)In the comics, he's a gangster with a thing for umbrellas and birds.
That can easily be made believable in Nolan's universe or the story he's telling.
Does that mean the Penguin's the next character? Probably not, but with the transition that seems to be hidden beneath the surface from Gotham's mobsters to the freaks, it works well.
I think it works better than the Riddler anyway.
But right now, I'm willing to bet that Nolan could make Crazy Quilt, the Cavalier, Killer Moth or any of the Z-list Bat-foes work — AND I'd pay to see it.

Aug 8th 2008 11:23AM (Cinematical)These just look way too bizarre, especially the one at the top of the story (it looks more like a skull than a clown's face), but I agree if they can turn the Joker that dark, wow.
That opens the door for a lot of different villains.
'The Spirit' Trailer Now Officially Online
Jul 16th 2008 11:31AM (Cinematical)I was on the fence about the movie, even though I love the character.
This is not the Spirit. It's almost like if the '60s Batman TV show met the Spirit minus the parody. It looks too over-the-top, the film noir-ish aspect almost seems to be completely gone. It's the Spirit in name only and that's a shame.
I like most of Frank Miller's work, but like a few misfires in the last few years, this one's right there.
I've gone from looking forward to his interpretation to where this has strictly become a rental, nothing more.
