BioShock Infinite to include tougher '1999 Mode'

Jan 19th 2012 8:56PM (Joystiq)
It would have been even better to have just called it "SS2 Mode" and made the younger generation of gamers looked up what that actually means and the real history and lineage of Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Barring that however, 1999 mode a great idea and I'll definitely be playing Bioshock 2 in that mode :)

Belated April Fools? Audi A5 leans into corners like a motorcycle [w/video]

There's no benefit for performance, but there is a benefit for comfort. leaning into the turn means that a portion of the lateral G's get converted into vertical G's, which means less sliding around in the seat.

Mansory gets into the custom bike game with Zapico

They didn't have to ruin a perfectly good supercar, so Mansory is already a leg up on the bike already. Really though, this is a pretty nice looking custom, even if it'll never actually get ridden.

Audio engineer lists top 10 songs to test a car stereo

a good mix of music, but missing some edge case music, like a good techno/trance/trip-hop track and a good euro metal track (which if you haven't listened to is a lot more detailed than the RAAARARRAR of most American metal). I recommend anything by Emancipator for the pure trip-hop (otherwise Dido or Jem both have good combo of vocals and trip-hop background) and anything by DragonForce for the Euro Metal. Then again, Im not sure how many Audi buyers actually listen to trip-hop or metal..

Oh, and props for Hide and Seek :) One of my favorite songs EVER because its just so simple and so effective.

First Drive: 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder

Hmm... is it just me or does anyone else think this car needs the double arches behind the seats ala a Porsche Boxster Spyder? It just looks so damn flat and boring back there... Yup... thats my only quibble with this car. Its especially good to hear that the manual still lives strong with this supercar, unlike all the others out there.

"If that's not bat guano enough for you..."

That about sums things up perfectly. At least they're more visible than street lugers?

Car and Driver launches 'Save the Manuals!' campaign [w/video]

This is exactly the same issue facing photographers and camera makers now. Cameras now are so easy to use that most people who use P&S cameras have no idea whats going on behind the scenes, and when they see someone with a fancy DSLR and decide to try "real" photography themselves they are truly overwhelmed by the things that must be considered. Keep in mind, a modern DSLR is the DSG of the camera world, as it gives the user most of the control, and hides all of the messy stuff behind a nice veneer of technology. Hand a P&S user something like a Canon AE-1 (fully manual camera from the 80's... built like a tank and a great learning camera) and good luck having them take 1 good picture. Technology may progress, but when learning, it always pays to start with the oldest technology available first and work your way up. Its hard and anachronistic, but you'll soon realize just how much of the new stuff never really replaced the old stuff, it only hid it under a layer of technology that you no longer control.

That front end definitely isn't a looker, but it looks like a lot of automakers seem to be going down the "giant smiling face" look (see the new BMW 5 series). IMO, only mazda has down the smiling happy car any justice, and thats mainly cuz its smiling so damn much you can't help but like it (or least not hate it).

Highly entertaining racing. Yes, quite a few of the drivers on this track were pretty n00bish (especially the driver behind the camera...), but it made for some very interesting moments of "whats gonna happen next?".

First Drive: 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is angular, unhinged glory

After looking at the picture again I totally agree with this. There needs to be something there, if only just a crease or a line. That being said... it sure does leave room for a widebody kit and some SERIOUSLY huge wheels to be tucked in there...
