12 Days of Joyswag: Battlefield 3 superkit - the game, controller, vault, wall graphics

Dec 17th 2011 3:36AM (Joystiq)
I hate it because the fanboys are too busy whining over which game is better that they fail to realize that both games can be owned and enjoyed by the same person.

Modern Warfare 3 sells 6.5M in biggest day-one ever

Nov 12th 2011 8:37PM (Joystiq)
I think a lot of why MW3 outsold BF3 is because of the intended audience. While both games can be played on the major consoles and PC, MW3 seems to be best tuned to being played on a console. The console market is more accessible than the PC gaming market, with the hardware being the same from person to person.

BF3 just screams "PLAY ME ON A PC YOU IDIOT!" Its not a bad game on consoles, but its AMAZING on a good PC. I own MW3 for Xbox 360 and BF3 for the PC and wouldn't have it any other way.

Oh and I play both with a keyboard and mouse (even on Xbox 360) thanks to having a XIM 3 (Google it).

The beta and Battlefield 3

Oct 10th 2011 10:11PM (Joystiq)
I remember a time when the term Beta reflected on the fact that the product was not in a release worthy state and the company producing it is looking for more feedback to help remedy issues. The more people using the product, the more chances they have to produce really obscure and hard to reproduce bugs, which helps the developers a great deal.

Fast forward to today, and all anyone expects from a "Beta" is early access.

Dead Island 'Bloodbath Arena' DLC launch held up by work on main game

Sep 30th 2011 7:45PM (Joystiq)
I'm a firm believer that "Further polishing of the main game" should take place BEFORE the game is released to the public.

One of the reasons why I don't buy anything made by Bethesda until at least a year after its release date.

You decide what goes in the Borderlands 2 collector's edition; also, a survey

@Xiegfried Even better: Radio Controlled mini Claptrap.

Retail copies of Battlefield 3 will also require Origin

@Mazrael You will probably need an "always on" internet connection to play single player.

@(Unverified) WoW stopped being challenging after Burning Crusade.

Battlefield 3 won't be sold on Steam; EA claims service 'restricts our ability to directly support players'

Aug 6th 2011 9:26AM (Joystiq)
@glassd Exactly. I bought Battlefield 2142 through EA's Download Manager back in the day. Then they discontinued the Download Manager and I can't play the game anymore... Steam has been around since the dawn of time (in gaming terms) and I trust it more than I trust EA's download service. No Steam = No Sale.

The Daily Grind: Do you play multiple MMOs at once?

Sandboxie, run one client in the sandbox, and one outside.

The Daily Grind: Do you play multiple MMOs at once?

At one point I've found myself being logged into 3 MMOs at a time, total of 14 clients running...

Multiboxing a set of 5 Draenei Shamans in WoW
Mining on 8 Characters in EVE Online (needs interaction once every 5 minutes or so)
Logged into Entropia Universe to auto-craft

That was a few years ago though, I've since all but quit EVE Online, only have one WoW account, and still enjoy Entropia Universe more than either of those.
