Sony's XMB OS isn't really nice to update unlike the 360 OS.
But even then, PS3 is used a lot for other entertainment according to other studies. Not too far from the Xbox 360.

Mar 27th 2012 4:44PM (Joystiq)Define extensive testing. Because all they do is make sure the update doesn't screw up the console's OS and it's programs.
They don't make sure the patch is a good patch that fixes issues within the game. My source? The countless amounts of patches that are released that break the game more and more on consoles.
Smaller updates are better because it gives the gamers and developers something smaller in scope to create, test, release to the public, and maybe retest.
The reason why they make these massive updates is because Microsoft and Sony charge per update after 3 freebies.
Gamers are happier when a game is attended to every week instead of a single patch every 3 months. But you can't do that on consoles.

Mar 27th 2012 4:16PM (Joystiq)Lies. It takes nothing to upload the patch onto Origin, which you EA guys control, and allow us PC gamers to download the patch. The reason why you didn't do this is because of a bunch of corporate red tape.
Telling me that a PC patch is delayed due to console certification yet have a console version's update ready for download a week before the PC. Who you fooling?
One of the perks of PC gaming is that there is no overlord telling us gamers and you developers, when you are allowed to do things. USE IT! (or we will complain about a broken game).

Mar 16th 2012 9:15PM (Joystiq)Glad there is a FOV slider. Makes me want to throw up everything I play a console-port that is defaulted at 60 - 70 degrees field of view with no way to change it, unless I dig into the config files.
90 Degree Field of View is what I play at. Anything too low or too high, makes me sick.
