Dead Space lands on BlackBerry PlayBook and Android ... well, Xperia Play

Aug 19th 2011 2:56PM (Joystiq)
I'll confirm it. Dead Space is available for the Xperia Play.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii, future titles will play themselves

Jun 14th 2009 2:02PM (Joystiq)
Heck, I think this is a great idea. My four-year-old nephew used to love to play New Super Mario Bros. on the DS. But, there was one stinking level in the entire game, that he could not do. I'm not sure what it was about this level that held him up, but he would get more and more frustrated, everytime he played it. Eventually, one of us would have to beat it for him and then he'd be fine.

This is exactly the same thing. More power to Nintendo, for this idea.

Rock Band Weekly: Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer and Garbage

Feb 16th 2008 12:35PM (Joystiq)
Man, what's up with the Make Believe hate? I thought it was a phenomenal album... The best Weezer had put out since, well, Pinkerton.

That isn't to say that I didn't like Green or Maladroit. I think they're all excellent. But, I really, really liked Make Believe.

She's a journalist and she fights the man. That's awesome!

The Joystiq Weekend: February 9 - 10, 2008

Feb 11th 2008 8:48AM (Joystiq)
One of our local arcades just closed after about seventeen years, because some contractor bought the property with the adjoining stores to tear them down and build new buildings.

Anyway, after the guy was moved out, some friends of mine and I got a chance to go over to the old arcade and look around to see if he left any cool stuff. We found a gutted Mario Bros. Cabinet, like the one pictured above, that the arcade owner just left in there to be torn down. It's kind of sad. Of course, we also found a ton of magazines from 1982, so that's cool. There's even a video magazine that's frontpage headline reads: "Sony KO'd in Round Two: Beta Maker Vows to Fight Back." We got a chuckle out of it.

Anyway, good things did come out of the closing. The owner ended up selling me a pretty sweet Capcom CPS-2 machine, complete with the boards for Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Giga Wing, Alien Vs. Predator and Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom.

He also gave me a Stun Runner and a Nintendo Vs. dualsystem that he said didn't work. After reseating some of the cables, I found that both of the machines work fine, they just need to be cleaned up.

Quite an awesome haul, if you ask me.

Rocky and Bullwinkle bound for Xbox Live Arcade

Nov 23rd 2007 1:53AM (Joystiq)
"The new title, The Bullwinkle Show (what, no Rocky?)"

Well, the show was originally called "Rocky and Friends" for a couple of years. Then it was called "The Bullwinkle Show" until the end.

It wasn't called "Rocky and Bullwinkle" until syndication.

Donkey Kong Country Competition Cart hits eBay

Oct 19th 2007 10:42PM (Joystiq)
Noshino - I was in the competition back in the day. Basically, they just replaced a bunch of the stuff in the game with bananas. And then they threw more bananas in there. You goal was to collect as many bananas as possible within the alotted time.

I came in second at my local store. I was first for quite a while until some banana-collecting god played and destroyed my total.

The Political Game: The Public Nuisance

Sep 27th 2007 11:40AM (Joystiq)
At the moment, any store that does this does it on a voluntary basis. Like R-rated movies, there is no law, and therefore, no consequences for selling a minor an M-rated game.

Booze and cigarettes on the other hand? You can get fined tons of money for selling those to a minor. I've seen bars lose their liquor license and then close for selling booze to a minor.

Freak out: Halo 3 arrives tonight

I will actually be going to my local game shop tomorrow after I get off of work. I know the owner and he's already saving me a copy. It should be good times.
