Rock Band Weekly: Pearl Jam's 'Backspacer' album

Sep 18th 2009 11:59AM (Joystiq)
Yeah, strangely enough I started with Vs rather than Ten. I used to live in France at the time and Ten didn't have much of a breakthrough but 'Daughter' was played on the radio all the time. To be honest, I still actually kind of prefer Vs, because I always disliked the production on Ten which made the album sound really murky, especially compared to the live versions. The remixed version has kind of changed that fortunately. And I felt SO proud of myself when I gold starred 'Black' on vocals!

I feel bad for those who don't like Pearl Jam, but for someone like me who's been listening to them since Vs came out, this is the best news ever. Especially since the new album is my favourite since No Code or even Vitalogy.

Man, there is no way I'm shelling out the money for Metallica, but I would love to play/sing Alice in Chains' 'No Excuses'!

'What's all this then?'

An exploit whereby you can hide in a room in the final stage of 'No Mercy' and no one (and that really means no one!) will find you. All you have to do is wait for the chopper to arrive.

Ah well, nothing beats hiding under the stairs next to the heliport anyway.

I hate to show what an ignoramus I am, but what is EMEA? is it a new country that Bill Gates has bought where locals are required by law to buy an Xbox and a Zune?

Some interesting comments in that 2006 thread:

'And in 1 or 2 years everybody will think a DVD cannot fit a decent HD game anymore. 360 will join Dreamcast. '

Didn't quite happen, did it?

'We hope they've got Mega Man X9 somewhere up their sleeves. Man, Japan would never see that one coming.'

I'll see your sarcasm and raise you a deadpan 'Yes they would, Mr McElroy, yes they would'.

Best of the Rest: Ludwig's Picks of 2008

Linear? no. But repetitive? Oh yes. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the game very much, and its many qualities redeemed its shortcomings plenty. But eventually, the game boiled down to:

1) Jump around a corrupted place.
2) Find a bad guy/girl. Counter his/her attack. Button mash. Win.
3) Jump around a non corrupted place and collect the shiny things.

Rinse and repeat.

I loved PoP, and I loved Assassin's Creed. But my love for them didn't blind me enough that I couldn't see some of the games' flaws.
