Like with many things having to do with infrastructure, the United States is waaay behind the times with this. A fully functional and much more advanced system has been working in Singapore for many years, which not only meters a car's usage of the roads, but also adjusts the cost based upon time of day.
Space exploration has been hampered terribly by the incompentent, bloated, and corrupt bureacracy that is NASA. We are fortunate that the govenment didn't create a NASA type organization to monopolize computer science, or I would be writing this on a Univac (or more likely wouldn't be writing on anything). NASA is a massive waste of money, and crowds out dynamic private sector development.
The funny thing is that although Hubble is now practically useless, NASA is still going to waste billions "fixing" it. What a joke.
What am I missing? It sounds like this is a downgrade from the X100, not an upgrade. No ATI video card, no firewire. I would want this more than the X100 why? So I can get a chip upgrade that will make little real world difference? I hope this knocks the price of the X100 down, because that sounds like a better choice to me.
The Target in Commack, NY had a handfull of 60gb PS3 in stock today. They had a demonstration system going as well. A kid was playing some sort of off road racing game, and the graphics looked terrific, but not interesting enough to make me want to play it. Anyway, I think that the PS3 shortage can be officially declared over.
I am in awe of your genius. I have a Giotto on its last legs that could badly use such a pick me up. More detailed instructions and pictures would be very welcome.
What are the chances that the Linksys draft n router they are now selling will work with the final specification? I need a new router for a simple home network, and wondering if I should buy a G spec router, or go for the extra $50 for the draft n.
My DVR from the cable company has dual digital tuners. Why would anybody want to record anything in analog? It will probably look no better than my old Tivo looked recording analog, which was bad enough on my 50" LCD that I got rid of it in the first place. I don't see a market for this in the long run. Tivo has no viable strategy to stay relevant and in business.
If I can't wait, and pick one up in Akihabara, will I be able to change the default langauge to English? Will there be any functional differences between the Japanese and U.S. product?
Also, does this use a standard USB cable? I am turned off by a proprietary cable, which would be a deal killer for me.
