EA to acquire BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios

Oct 11th 2007 6:37PM (Joystiq)
You mean the NFL exclusivity contact that the NFL shopped around to game studio's and EA just happened to be the winning bidder?

It would have gone to a studio exclusively no matter what, it wasn't EA's idea. Get your facts straight before whining.

Today's spoilerest game video: God of War 2 ending

Mar 18th 2007 1:31PM (Joystiq)
Whats with all the GoW hate? I haven't played the second one yet but the first one is pretty damn good. While I do enjoy DMC better, GoW of a fun game and that ending is pretty cool, except for the massive Halo 2 like ending.

eBay's PS3/Wii auction cancellations are a good move

Oct 14th 2006 8:23PM (Joystiq)
I work at eBay and I'm glad. This means I won't have to hear from 100,000 angry people who don't get their PS3s right after launch cause the seller never got it.

Some more on the Wiicessories line -- cables and adapters, oh my!

The sensor bar isn't a extra thing to buy and they aren't going to sell games on SD cards. Quit your complaining. Does your 360 clash with your entertainment system too? Oh sorry, you're just a PS3 fanboy.

Gears of War still buggy, complain 'Chainsaw' event attendees

Hopefully they were using a old build to demo since games should go Gold around a month before they release, not still have bugs in them.

And try playing Shadow of the Colossus without rumble where not only it make the game much better, it's actually built into the gameplay mechanics.

I DONT WANT TO PLAY DEVIL MAY CRY 4 WITHOUT RUMBLE!

Metareview - Silent Hill (the movie)

Apr 24th 2006 3:35PM (Joystiq)
Personally, I loved this movie. Yes, I'm a huge fan of the games. I totally agree will some of the reviews about some bad actings, some bad script and the last 30 mins were a little weak. But, I didn't come to watch this movie to see Oscar winning acting and screenplay. I love Silent Hill because of the suspence, atmosphere, monsters, and disturbing images. If you can show me a movie that does those things better in the last 5 years I'll be your best friend cause I sure can't find one.

Horror movies never do very good with critics due to the fact that they aim for a different audience. Instead of looking at these so called professional reviews in newspapers and such go look at reviews at horror movie websites. At those sites Silent Hill is getting great reviews. If I'm a horror movie buff I'm not going to get my reviews from Roger Ebert, who hates horror movies, I'm going to go get my reviews from people who like similar movies to me.

I can't wait for a Directors Cut DVD, cause I'll by the 10 disk set if theres one :)

Joystiq Review: Silent Hill (the movie) [Update 2]

Apr 22nd 2006 2:19AM (Joystiq)
Great!:
- Audio
- Music (taken right from the games..awesome!)
- Pyramid Head
- The other monsters
- The first hour and a half

Medium:
- Sean Bean's story arc
- The ending
- The Dialogue overall

Bad:
- A couple lines of dialogue

I don't think I've ever been so happy while watching a movie before. If you're a fan of Silent Hill some parts of this movie will make you down right giddy! Also, I personally love movies which don't wrap up everything nicely and hand you all the answers on a silver platter. Will you have questions about what the hell happened during the movie? Yes, but who cares, watch the movie again, or maybe even use your brain to figure it out.

Finally, I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal about the length of this movie. 90% of the movies these days are 2 hours plus. Silent Hill doesn't feel to long or too short, its about right. But, I could tell you one movie that could have been cut in half..it ends with Kong and starts with King.
