Flipping the Linux switch: Text editors for new users

Jan 13th 2008 7:42PM (Download Squad)
The thing I'm interested in is a good text editor that works in widescreen. I'm thinking about getting an ultraportable and height is a scarce commodity on those things. What's the best editor that takes advantage of extra width to compensate for the limited height?

Wii clone caught on Vii-deo

Nov 8th 2007 3:59PM (Joystiq)
Guys, did you actually read / translate the Engadget Chinese article? In the article the author mentioned that part of the reason that the controls looked so crappy is because the guy who tested it (the author) didn't know what he was doing. And they actually presented the Vii in a positive light. As in, they didn't make fun of it every time they mention it.

The photo shoot is only bundled in the special edition of the game. Ironically, the winner gets a copy of Legends, but only the basic version without the photo...

Surely that HD DVD drive. And an air conditioner, you know, to point at the power brick next summer.

I'm sorry, I don't (or can't) eat that

Usually, I ask for dietary restrictions and such on my invitations, and my guests reply when RSVPing. This has worked out marvelously well. Besides, lots of guests who have strong preferences of things usually only ask me to make the pieces of food they do not like large, so they can pick them out, so it's not a problem.

Unless I happen to be dating you, then all dietary preferences will be respected.

Equipping a Bachelor Pad - Beyond the Butter Knife

Dec 1st 2005 12:41PM (Slashfood)
I agree with Jonathan. However, I have found that the best cheap knives are "set of 4 steak knives" from dollar stores. 25 cents per knife! And since they're "steak" knives, they can cut through more than butter! When I spent several weeks broke, with no car and stuck with a kitchen with nothing in it, I found that a non-stick skillet works better than a pot. Partially because it's easier to clean, and partially because things that are cooked in skillets are usually easier than those cooked in pots. But then again, I also had access to a microwave---another essential of a bachelor pad.
