2AM: The Wii/PS3 lines form and spots are for sale
Dec 17th 2006 8:59AM (Joystiq)We kept telling people that there were only 15 units but people kept lining up. We had over 70 people in line when they handed out the 15 tickets... Two people sold spots in line for $150 each. We also had one arrest, which was cool because I had just watched “Ho Ho Ho Cops” on Fox and it was nice to see it in Ultra high definition, true to life resolution.
The girl was so drunk (she was #5) when #11 asked her "What are you on?" and she flipped out. #11 called the cops. Cops came settled both parties down and left. 20 minutes later #5 calls the cops and says people are underage drinking. Long story short #5 got arrested for disorderly conduct and #16 was happy as a pig in sh*t that he didn't leave when we told him they only had 15. Oh and there was a Poo Tree......not good at all. But I got my Wii so screw #5 and the poo tree
Wii gets some negative press
Jul 21st 2006 3:33PM (Joystiq)After you turn on the Wii and the Remote for the first time you will need to press the 'sync' button on the console. This will sync up the remote and allow you to calibrate the control. I envision something akin to the way you need to calibrate the touch screen on the DS. You will most likely need to maneuver the remote to put the cursor onto targets on the corner of you TV set and click the A button. Once this calibration is completed the sensor bar will be able to determine (via Infrared) what you are pointing at on the screen.
So screen size as mentioned above should not make any difference.
The only caveat to that is whether a 9" TV will allow enough changes in the IR field for the sensor bar to make an accurate reading. It's not hard to imagine. If you have a 50" TV and you want to move the cursor from the very left of the screen to the right side of the screen you may have to move the remote say... 3 inches. However on a 9" TV you may only need to move the remote 1/2 inch. I can see this being a problem for someone unlucky enough to have their Wii hooked up to a TV that small. But like someone said upthread if you that crappy of a TV buy a new TV before you buy a Wii I mean come on it's f'in 2006.
But what do I know I learned all this by osmosis last night while sleeping in a Holiday in.
E3: Sony vs. Nintendo in the West Hall (again) [Update 1]
Apr 19th 2006 8:32PM (Joystiq)Now I have to measure...
If that drawing is to scale the Sony booth is 2.2"x2.3" and Nintendo's Booth is 1.95"x 2.7"
2.2x.2.3= 5.06 Total Area -Sony
1.95x2.7= 5.26 Total Area -Nintendo
Also has it been confirmed that Sony will have any playable titles for the PS3? I'm a Nintendo fanboi so I don't pay much attention to news from the unwashed masses...;) Anyone know?
E3: Sony vs. Nintendo in the West Hall (again) [Update 1]
Apr 19th 2006 6:43PM (Joystiq)I didn't see this stated in the article. And If the floor plan is actually to scale the nintendo space is bigger.
Also i thought that the PS3 was going to be behind glass at E3? Is that true? Anyone know?
New Mario lacks 'newness,' says Infendo
Apr 12th 2006 2:55PM (Joystiq)This game is meant to move product. Nintendo will bundle the DS lite with the NEW Super Mario Bros. and will be making money hand over fist. Infendo will be playing this game on his DS light in between have his weiner in his hand and fist. And that my friends is something that will change gaming as we know it.
