It worked for Resident Evil (and Wave Race, Metroid, etc)too. Actually, you had to wait, but it defaulted to 480p after a few seconds of waiting. Make sure your Wii is set for EDTV.

This is sad. I will probably wait for a PS3 for a year or so. I waited till august for my 360, i refused to buy a 360 unless it had background downloading!

They need the Pointer and Nunchuck. The Pointer/Sensor Bar will allow for faster on screen pointing and the Nunchuck will allow for faster/natural movement. When that happens it will also (hopefully) convinced some of the developers that not all FPS need a movement box...

But this is a great proof of concept, showing that the Wii-mote is starting to be used.

Nintendo stated 4 million by the end of 2006[2], and 6 million [1] by end of the fiscal year March 2007. Just for the record, Sony's and Nintendo's Fiscal year target are the same[1]. Sony has never revised their March 2007 target number, even after the 2 (or was it 3?) cuts in launch shipments.

This is pretty believable. If the PS3 is a success, there is no reason for a PS4, EVER. That was the point of the Cell, BluRay and a upgradeable HD, and giving away an $800+ machine for $599, right? I dont see a PS4...what could they do? add better graphics? put those two HDMI ports on it like they promised? Would a PS4 be worth it to gamers or to Sony?

If the PS3 is a failure, Sony really will have to rethink everything. All their money and technology is riding on the "success" of the PS3. They have no money whatsoever. If they fail to at least break even, they might as well pack up their entire company. They wont have any more money to invest in a PS4 or anything else for that matter. Failure isnt an option. (and by failure i mean they dont break even from their PS3...they dont have to "win" the so-called "console war", they need to turn a profit....same as microsoft does this time around).

Does anyone remember (or have the data on) how many GameCube exclusive games EA made? I'd venture to say None (maybe 2?) in the Gamecube's 5 years of existence. So 2 or 3 exclusives on the first year of the Wii? thats pretty good for EA. And if EA can continue to actually be thoughtful in their Wii conversions of cross-platform games (like madden), i'd say this is good news for the Wii.

For those who have PS3s (since someone brought up PS3s) did you notice that there are only 4 controller lights on your PS3 controllers (just like the Wii)? Where are the other 3 controller lights?


Oh, and this video is real. As long as you dont need to point at anything, you dont need the sensor bar. If you notice, the nunchuck attachment has no IR receiver...yet it still works! I am shocked at the amount of people who claim to know gaming that have all of these misconceptions about things like the PS3 and the Wii. Crazy. Oh, for future reference, Bluetooth 2.0's official range is 100 meters (around 300 feet), so i dont know why Sony's controller has such a short range (unless they are using the 1.1 or 1.2 spec http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#Bluetooth_2.0).

Welp, I guess i'll add my story.

Took the Wii over my Sister's house, she was preparing thanks giving dinner for the family this year. We had a small gathering this year, just 5 other people. Me, My sister (35-ish), her fiance (37-ish), my mom (mid-50ish) and my nephew (12). Also i only had to wii-motes and one nunchuk (yeah, cant find em!)

My nephew loved the Wii. At first he wanted a PS3, but he started playing Wii sports and couldnt stop, we couldnt pull him away from baseball and bowling! He said golfing was too hard. We finally pulled him away for dinner.

After dinner my sister's fiance starting getting into bowling, trying to beat my nephew. I also bowled a few rounds with them. Then my mom (who is in her mid-50s) started in with bowling. We had a blast. My sister's fiance still wants a PS3, he likes the Wii, but he says he wants "good graphics". Once it old him the PS3 price, he said he may buy a PS2 and wait for the PS3 price to drop.

My Sister didnt want to try anything, but we got her to play excite truck. it was hard for her to play but she liked it a bit.

But the story ends badly. My mother, after playing said she loved the Wii, but doesnt see buying it because she is by herself at home and that wouldnt be much fun without other people. My Sister doesnt want to buy the Wii for my nephew because she is afraid he will hurt his younger brother....he was swinging pretty franticly even though i told him (and showed him) he didnt have to. And her fiance wants a PS3. So no win for Nintendo here in terms of a sale. But it was a great thanksgiving! Watching my mom have that much fun was great! We are making bowling plans now to go do some real bowling....thanks nintendo!

Well, i think the moral of the story is pretty obvious. When money is no object, and all you care about is graphics, get a PC. If you care about unique games and unique gameplay, get a console.

This isnt new. Nintendo has been saying this since E3.
