Nov 14th 2006 9:19AM (Joystiq)Is Nintendo the spin doctor of video games?
Nov 13th 2006 4:25PM (Joystiq)Its kind of funny, but most people dont even know what nintendo's "plans" are anyway. Most folks getting a Wii probably have no idea about the "game industry" or "the need for new fresh gameplay", etc. Wii is being hyped big time in the mainstream media, but Nintendo has had little to do with it. We are giving Nintendo way to much credit. Nintendo isnt MAKING a news journalist have fun when they try out a Wii, etc. lol
But I do think Nintendo is trying to spin things positively so it doesnt loose its hardcore base. (the guys who post on blogs lol) Nintendo has "promised" that they wont abandon hardcore gamers but Nintendo really hasnt mentioned future "hard core" games. Zelda and Metroid looks to be it (from nintendo) No more eternal darkness or Star fox adventures type games, etc coming from first/second party it seems...
New games this week
Nov 13th 2006 11:38AM (Joystiq)I would venture to say that November 2006 is the busiest month in gaming history, and that this week is the busiest week of gaming history.
Any historians out there?

Nov 6th 2006 11:31AM (Joystiq)Wii-osk in action at Gamestop
Nov 6th 2006 11:09AM (Joystiq)When i played it at the Nintendo Fusion tour, i felt the same way. It was really interesting, the controller was so sensitive that, once you got the hang of it, you were able to control the thing just by thinking...it really didnt feel like you were using a controller. The motions needed were very subtle. Its a very unique experience.
The only negative (a VERY small negative) is I think the Wiimote is missing some kind of "shoulder" buttons when you turn it sideways. It would make the experience so much more responsive than having to reach a bit and press "A" for things.
Today's hottest game video: Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Trailer
Nov 3rd 2006 8:09AM (Joystiq)Zelda:TP's graphics have nothing to do with the Wii's texture memory, this is a gamecube game (as most of the launch titles are), not a Wii game. I showed this to a friend of mine (a PC gamer) and he was like "WTF! How can the gamecube do that with so little memory (40MB, 3MB texture)!)" I thought it was funny. Anyhow, No one knows what the Wii's GPU specs are but Zelda is obviously pushing the Gamecube to the limits.
And about the music. Its obviously a take on the standard Zelda opening from original "Legend of Zelda". Its very creative and well done. It seems to be converted into some operatic form, and someone is singing the tune instead of instruments playing it....reminiscent of OoT.
For those who dont remember, this game was pretty much finished in 2005 [1]...BEFORE Okami lol It was going to launch against Shadow of the Colossus and the Xbox 360 lol

Zelda Twilight Princess trailer and title intro
Nov 2nd 2006 2:15PM (Joystiq)So that would be SOTC "stealing" from the Zelda series. But i dont really believe in that type of "stealing" as bad. If you can make it better, go for it! As a gamer (consumer), i win either way...
