Way to go Alex, calling something "defective" when it doesn't support improper use. My metaphor stands, first of all; second of all, I wonder if you'd be saying the same thing if someone lets his Sixaxis slip when trying to do crazy juke moves in NBA 07 and not holding onto the controller properly. If you'd blame Sony for that, too, then something's wrong with your inane thinking.
Wow, Pag. You're more astounding than the "apologists" you criticize.
"The wiimote is meant to be swung around while imitating sports in an indoor environment. Players use while swinging it as hard as in a real sport, but their strap doesn't withstand it."
AS HARD as in a real sport? ...uh. Right. Obviously, you haven't read the instruction manual of Wii Sports WHICH CLEARLY SAYS:
There's a 50-50 chance you'll come back with a, "But who reads the manuals anyway!?" People who aren't stupid. Don't bring back the "I'm going to sue for hot coffee spilled on my lap" mentality. Please.
It seems as if Toyota needs to be held liable for every car crash. Or Black & Decker needs to be held liable if someone accidentally gets his or her tongue stuck in the Dustbuster. Or Hoover needs to be held liable if it sucks up a hundred dollar bill and shreds it up. Or Nintendo needs to be held liable for someone accidentally slipping with the stylus and poking someone in the eye. Or Sony needs to pay for your Playstation 3 because the USB cord is too short and yanked the system off the table.
Point is, Asezino, you really need to get a grip on reality.
It really takes seeing it in motion. I own Ridge Racer 6; I've only seen video footage of Ridge Racer 7 (both shaky cam and direct-feed). Even then, it's still very easy to see that the lighting in Ridge Racer 7 is more intense, vivid and colorful than in Ridge Racer 6. Regardless of what any of these still shots may try to tell me, a racing game is about motion and if it looks better in motion, I'm going to say that it looks better overall. Ridge Racer 6 is darker, more mundane, and less - well - the lighting is just... not "there" as it is on Ridge Racer 7. Let me qualify this by saying that it means nothing: this doesn't mean that the 360 can't handle RR7 and it sure doesn't mean that the PS3 is "teh suck" hardware-wise. It's ONE game, and I *still* think it looks better in motion than RR6 does. (At the end of the day though, I won't have a PS3 for years anyway.)
I, for one, couldn't care less. Another reader pointed to Black as an example of visceral gameplay without blood, and I must tip my hat to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (among others) for the same thing. Still, it's worth mentioning that it will continue to reflect poorly (whether deservedly or undeservedly is a different argument) on Nintendo's rep. K from Men in Black said it best: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." People will be all over this if they see it, forgetting the other T-yet-violent games, and say, "NITEDO TEH KIDDAY". I hope this doesn't diminish the game's sales, and as a result, third parties' willingness to develop for the Rev.
