Big bucks for 360 power brick

Nov 5th 2006 7:16PM (Joystiq Xbox)
this thing looks to do no more than the standard power brick. my brick has color status lights and a built in fan. and how is it going to keep my 360 cooler when its a few feet away?

your tv may accept both resolutions but chose whatever your tv's NATIVE RESOLUTION is. if its a tube tv, its going to be 1080i, LCD or plasma could be 480p, 720p, or 1080p. More than likely 480p or 720p unless you paid big bucks for it (or its a westinghouse).

Old news alert: 360 HD-DVD commercial

Joe Does make a great argument. I for one am not a fanboy as I will have both ps3 and the 360.
But I do appreciate M$'s 360 for giving the option for gamers who aren't blessed with a large amount of disposable income to "build" a system to thier liking to fit a tight budget. If someone just wants to play games then hey.. $299 and your in. buy a memory card online cheap to save games and your done.
Choice is a good thing my friend, it's true that the total lump sum of all the add-ons might add up to be the same price as one PS3, but by spreading it out over time makes the next-gen pill MUCH easier to swallow.

Sony reveals new 3200ES, 5200ES 1080p A/V receivers

Sep 14th 2006 4:20PM (Engadget)
It looks like sony is actually using a more realistic power rating now. Hopefully they have done away with thier "170 watt", high-distortion S-Master digital amp technology which basically sucked. If sony does go back to thier great high-current amps of old, I'll be back on board. if not, then I'll stick with my Denon. Great looking GUI though.

Sony's newest A/V receiver with 1080p HDMI input -- TA-DA3200ES

If this has another "s-master digital" amplifier. I'll pass. Sony needs to go back to thier roots when the old ES recievers rocked.

You don't really need eyecandy to have a good game. Better graphics for a retro game would 1) take much longer to release and take up more developer time than the $5 - $10 price could allow, and 2) take the true "retro" feel from the game! I'm 27 and playing older games that look like they did on my older consoles just take me back. good times...

Crackdown: more than meets the eye

Aug 8th 2006 11:02AM (Joystiq Xbox)
This argument about the "me too" clone of GTA is load of crap. Thats like saying that there should only be one fighting or driving game! Nobody else should make a FPS! Think about it, innovation is the key to taking gaming to the next level. If a developer has a game that brings new idea to an old genre I applaud it. I mean shit.. are all FPS games nothing but Castle Wolfinstien clones that should not be made? give me a break.
