Jun 19th 2009 11:19AM (Joystiq)If you look at the NPD numbers over the last two years as it relates to games released on both systems, you have to wonder why this is the first time we've heard a developer or publisher make that statement, as I think it's safe to assume that they've all been thinking it for quite some time.
April Fools: Jack Thompson wants government to legalize gamer murder

Apr 1st 2009 3:38PM (Joystiq)A guy gets sentenced to prison and arrives at his cell, where he meets his cell mate. Before anything is said between them, the cellmate calls out the number 19 and everyone within earshot begins cracking up. Once that dies down, someone from another cell calls out the number 24 and, once again, everyone within ear shot begins cracking up with laughter.
The new prisoner waits for the noise to die down, then asks his cell mate what was so funny. The cell mate tells him that the prisoners have memorized and assigned numbers to all the jokes, so when someone calls out a number, they all think of the joke and simultaneously laugh at the punch line.
Wanting to be accepted, the new prisoner calls out the number 16, but nothing happens. After a moment, he's asks his cell mate what happened. The cell mate responds by telling him that some people just don't know how to tell a joke.
Seems fitting, eh?
Even Wii games not immune to dilution of industry profits
Mar 31st 2009 4:33PM (Joystiq)You're taking all of this a bit too seriously, don't you think?
Lighten up a bit, dummy.

Mar 31st 2009 4:20PM (Joystiq)LOL.
Hey, I totally hear what you are saying about sequels wearing on you over time. I'm to that point with the music games, and probably won't buy any of them this year, but I do still enjoy the FPSs and Action sequels that get cranked out every year. I'm a fiend, what can I say!
Bioshock 2 is actually tops of my list for this year, too. Fingers crossed that it's as good as the original!

Mar 31st 2009 4:06PM (Joystiq)Hey dummy, the last line in your post said that big budget blockbuster games are on the decline. That's clearly not the case, and my list proves that.
Yeah, I know that earlier in your post you mentioned sequels versus new IP, but it was the last statement I was focusing on. That much should have been painfully obvious and I'm of the opinion that only a true dummy would have failed to take notice.
So, in closing, I'll ask you, my dummy of a friend, to be a bit more concise with future posts. Um kay?
Talk to you later, dummy.

Modern Warfare 2
Rock Band: Beatles
Assassin's Creed 2
Zelda DS (the one announced at GDC last week)
God of War III
Uncharted 2
Uh ... yeah ... blockbuster games definitely appear to be on the decline. Dummy.
Amazon vs. Toys R Us vs. GameStop: Which is the best trade-in service?
Mar 10th 2009 5:14PM (Joystiq)Think of that recent Samuel Adams commercial: the salesman takes the beer from the brewmaster and after tasting it says "you sure can brew it", to which the brewmaster replies "but can you sell it". That's basically our society, and every other developed society, in a nutshell. People find an area of expertise and put themselves to work: the glory in being the brewmaster or the salesman is the same, for without both, nothing would happen!
Try not to be such a hater. There's room enough for everyone to have some measure of success and the market will assuredly weed out those that cannot compete and thus do not belong. Welcome to the greatest society in the world, buddy!
