I got some Senn HD280's because my pmx60 were uesless on the noisy trains we have here. they're great because they're closed for one thing, rather than open and thats something you need to know before you buy. where will you be using the phones mainly? open or closed is a big consideration i would say.
not sure about quality as im not really an audiophile and mainly i dont have much experience with headphones but i can say im definitely happy with these.
Best bet really really is to test a few out and see what you think.

great game :D had it a week now in the UK and been playing far too much.

wheelies definitely help a lot. just go check out the top time trials times and see how they're done. its virtually all bikes with wheelies used as much as possible.

main issue ive found is that some maps desperately need to have more laps. some, like bloody luigis circuit, are basically down to a coin toss.
ghost valley 2 is another one. cracking map but 3 laps is smeg all!
with more laps it would allow those who have put the time in to develop their skills to hopefully pull ahead bit by bit and be able to absorb those bastard blue shells.

of course the best idea would be to be able to turn off certain weapons. i mean that goddamn blue shell...jesus. you mainly get it when you're at the back. as to helping you get back into contention it does virtually smeg all. what it does do however is ruin the poor git who's in first place and, hopefully, has got there due to skill. the sod who threw it is still in the same damn place.

that is THE main thing that annoys me about this otherwise awesome game. Options. How damn hard would it have been to allow there to be games that have more laps for certain tracks and/or some weapons disabled?

one last thing. teamspeak/skype/ventrilo/other - for christ sake when you've got a group of mates sorted set one up and get everyone in there. playing MK with your mates without voice chat sucks. if you nail them with a lush green shell shot or slam past them right at the end you almost NEED to lambast them for having the skills of a turnip. it adds to the fun a LOT.
