Nintendo invokes good names to defend a bad one [update 1]

Apr 29th 2006 7:08AM (Joystiq)
"I mean, the poor souls that are going to have to sell as many wee as possible at christmas."
I'm sorry, it is lines like that which kill any credible argument against the name. It seems like the majority who don't like the name are the kind of people who still refer to their excrement as 'doodoo', and most probably still do it in their pants.

Nintendo invokes good names to defend a bad one [update 1]

Its no different to psp. Fact. In fact it is just as hard to pronounce. (is is 'psssp' 'puspuh'?) and rhymes just as much with urinal slang. Thus, if you are slating the Wii, you need to plate the pspee. I find it hard to believe that anyone in the world calls their genitalia their 'wii', in the same way people don't call their sexual fluids their 'siemens'.

Wii unique like 'Google,' says Nintendo

So if Nintendo aren't allowed to call it the Wii, i take it Sony will also have to change the name of the PSP? After all, you wouldn't want PSP all over your fingers when you're out, or even worse, get caught watching a PSP movie.See? Fucking silly isn't it? Just as silly as saying 'want to come play with my wii wii'. Now, i'm off to watch 'The Ring', eat a Snickers bar, and drink some coke.

Nintendo "Revolution" now called "Wii" [update 6]

Mass hysteria, by any other name, is still mass hysteria. With time and good marketing the name has a chance of being huge. Personally i'm hoping for:

"Wii, piss on the competition."

The Wii, in comic form

Apr 28th 2006 2:02AM (Joystiq)
The psp has just and many urinal conjugations as the Wii. This reminds me of the Glazier take over of Manchester United. All the 'fans' rioted, burnt their shirts, said they would never support the club, start their own etc. months on, they are all sat in the stands once more. Maybe they should have called it Hysteria, because thats what it's causing.

Jesus the hardcore gamer

I can imagine jesus playing mario. "wtf man, he like.. Touched the kooper trooper and died.. but now he's back like nothing happened... Not a scratch on him. This isn't realistic at all!" *throws down pad* "think i'll go play Total War and make the romans lose. Again."

So who would win, in a 4 player super smash brothers melee game played by jesus, mohammed, buddha and ganesh? In fact i'd love to see a 'God 'em up'. Even better, a world of warcraft style religious war simulator with the slogan 'if you don't buy this game, you're going to hell!'

The Great Schism: Eastern vs. Western gaming markets [Update]

Apr 14th 2006 5:09PM (Joystiq)
I think this is more the cost of development this generation, rather than a total lack of willing to break into the japanese market. To produce a japanese orientated game, with no guarantee of sales would be difficult enough, but with such large resources and funding involved it makes it an even more dangerous prospect. While many western devs are multi-national, very few are multi-cultural.

Goldeneye on Xbox Live Arcade, not likely

Apr 13th 2006 4:31PM (Joystiq)
Considering it was Nintendo, not rare who bought the license for Goldeneye 64, it is more likely that it will appear on the Revolution than on Microsofts Live service. It is a similar scenario to them giving the Starfox or Donkey Kong licences for Rare to work with. It depends on the technicalities of Nintendo's deal with MGM as to the extent of their publishing rights.
