Star Wars Battlefront III60 exclusive?

Mar 26th 2007 8:16PM (Joystiq Xbox)
The best thing that Lucasarts has done with this serie is moving it to FreeRadical. Pandemic did a poor job in translating a Battlefield type game to the Star Wars franchise.

I like FreeRadical a lot. I have my respects for Pandemic too, but Battlefront was a week game compared to the Star Wars mod made for Battlefield 1942.

Are some topics off-limits for "serious" games?

Dec 4th 2006 9:49PM (Joystiq)
@11

That lined is established by you. Not the developer. If the developer want to sell you a game, they will make a game that is suitable to your values. That's not a bad thing, on the contrary, it would be a game suitable for you.

Are some topics off-limits for "serious" games?

"If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed." - Stanley Kubrick (for those who need a quote to notice that I'm not the only one that thinks the same way). I have a great respect for video games as I do for movies, I think that both are a form of art. In art there are NO limitation or whatsoever, when we write a screenplay we leave any moral issues behind and start to write a story without any feeling at all, just that of your characters. What Movies have to do with Video games, you ask?

Nowadays people are writing stories for video games with the purpose of bringing something new. These writers have use the screenplay format to write these stories. Developers, as time progresses, must bring a unique story which make their game success and sell. Developers like to bring this cinematic feeling to their games.

No topic should prevent the writer from writing. About the holocaust, many good video games could come from that event. Not from the Nazi point of view but the Jew perspective, this boy that has lost everything and wants to go home (that's a basic story, something like The Warrior (MOVIE)), the details will tell if the story is worthfull or not. But a Nazi perspective wouldn't be that bad at all, put it this way, this character decides to help the Jew, and theres a open world of Germany. A story is not real, its all fiction, we as human instinct make it a reality, and more than ever due to the fact that video games make us interact with the atmosphere.
