@Squawk The Carbines are more powerful, and often have a better range and damage than the assault rifles, making the assault class rather pointless. The A-91 and G36 are incredibly powerful, whilst others like the AEK do a fraction of the damage.
There are several attachments which are being modified too. The IRNV scope may be realistic, but it's very over powered and there is no disadvantage to using it. The explosive rounds for the shotguns, especially the automatics like the Saiga and USAS-12 are almost game destroying as well. At short-medium range, it's like playing The Expendables in game form, as you wander around like Duke Nukem, leveling entire squads in seconds.
@ARRoobs I completely disagree sir. I was around in the Duke Nukem 3D days, and Duke Nukem: Time to Kill. They were also extremely run and gun, shooting aliens, no real story line, and no complex gameplay elements. The only difference in gameplay between Duke Nukem of the past, and DNF is the regenerating health and 2 gun limit, which I agree are not in the spirit of Duke and should be removed. However apart from those, the games are the essentially the same, but with prettier graphics - and isn't that what we wanted and expected from DNF?
I don't understand the hate for this game. It was never meant to be as complex as Battlefield or even Call of Duty. There's no tactical game play, or hide functions, or 6 different types of flashbang grenades or whatever. It's Duke Nukem. You get given big guns, you shoot aliens in the face, and Duke makes inappropriate jokes. Anyone expecting this to rival modern shooters, or be anything like modern gameplay, is kidding themselves. The game runs fine, looks pretty good, and it's exactly what I want from Duke Nukem. Low skill run and gun fun.
For those questioning why iRacing, and not another racing game, or even FPS - it's because iRacing has a very close relationship with NASCAR. NASCAR officially sanctions several of the iRacing online series, and iRacing supplies the simulators for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Earnhardt Jr plays iRacing a lot (so do quite a lot of drivers, NASCAR and other series) and is involved in the development of the game.
iRacing isn't just a NASCAR Game, it's an incredibly realistic simulation of lots of cars and series. If you're a racing fan, I highly recommend it. Even if you hate NASCAR, you can happily ignore that portion of it anyway.
@jmerriex I'm a Euro, playing (obviously) on the Euro servers, Obeya world. I've noticed a massive variance in how the servers in the world perform. Financial EN1 for example is quite poor, whilst EN2 is excellent. Waterfront EN2 is almost unplayable for me and my entire clan. It was the same in the RTW days as well.
Hopefully GF can get to the bottom of the issues. Great improvements have been made, hopefully these can be sorted.
The game is still broken, but has moved on a lot from the RTW builds of it. The progression and levelling up is much easier, and more sensible than it previously was. The weapon recoil and sounds are vastly improved, and the vehicle handling is more varied, and balanced, allowing for more varied gameplay.
The game has serious performance issues, including but not restricted to massive lag spikes (server wide), horrible server FPS drops and it rans like crap. But apparently that is next on the list of improvements to be made by the developers.
Lots of potential here to unlocked, and GF are slowly getting there. If they get the performance improved, and then donw the road, graphics improvements, this game will be awesome.
The game has made significant strides since the RTW release. The levelling up system is better, and much more logical. It's all explained in the menus and all quite sensible, which is the exact opposite of what RTW did.
The performance and lag still needs work though. Several of the servers are almost unplayable, whilst others give significantly better performance. My entire clan suffers from huge lag spikes, and the server FPS drops really kill things. It also should run significantly better on decent hardware.
GF have made brilliant decisions regarding game play and levelling systems, but some love needs to be given to the serious performance issues.
The race director made the decision to start the race under safety car because of the stalled Formula Le Mans car on the circuit. But he never informed any of the teams of this decision. The Safety Car stayed out (like he was supposed to do), the marshals can be seen waving the yellow flags (like they are supposed to do), and the lights went green (questionable decision). The drivers at the back seen the green lights and accelerated, before finding the cars in front hadn't moved.
@Ferrous Whilst hats did not ruin TF2 for me, they certainly detracted from the original value of it. If you watch the dev commentary you see that Valve put an amazing amount of work and thought into even the tiniest of details - this includes the character models and outfits. For me, it is the reason that Valve products are usually far superior to anything else on the market.
With the hats, it felt like they were adding some random low quality mods to a game that didn't really fit the original theme.
For me, TF2 went downhill went it got too complex and there were multiple weapons and unlocks, and various items that had effects etc. It got too complex. TF2 was always great for me because it was a casual shooter that was amazing fun. There was nothing to learn, nothing to collect. You just turned up and played. It just went downhill for me and I got tired of all the added extra stuff. This also goes for the added community maps which never had the same feel, flow or quality as Valve originals.
