Interstellar Marines still exists, has actual landsharks

May 28th 2009 3:51PM (Joystiq)
I have a feeling a lot of this game is going to be tongue-in-cheek; a sort of commentary on the whole space marine phenomenon in other games, and movies even!

Joyswag Holidaze: Left 4 Dead (Xbox 360) & Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 Headphones

Dec 10th 2008 9:09PM (Joystiq)
I don't need either...but I certainly do want them! I played through the Left4Dead demo more times than I can count (really...I can't count. Please help me), and those spiffy headphones sure would help me out since I like to listen to things really, really, really, really freakin' loud-like. That, and the Xbox 360 default headset is a piece of sh--so why don't you just pick me, okay? Thanks!

I'll be sure to put down a few zombies in your honor.

Good day!

My weapon of choice is the infamous hanging chad. They lurk. You watch.

Molyneux asks for special review consideration; we ask 'what would other industries do?'

Oct 7th 2008 5:54PM (Joystiq)
The reviews are (mostly, it not entirely) for the consumers, and consumers only care about getting the best bang for their buck-- if the game isn't complete when it's released, and by that I mean the game is clearly not finished (I'm not referring to promised-but-not-delivered content from previews), then the review should reflect that.

Kane & Lynch devs talk pain of low scores

In a way, the amount of work that goes behind the game's development should have no impact on the game's review. The reviews are for the consumers. The consumer, for the most part, wants to know if the game is worth spending money on.

Amazon users slam Spore for DRM

Technically you're not completely SOL. You just have to contact EA much in the same way you do Microsoft when reinstalling a Windows OS after your allotted attempts.

With Microsoft, you call their number and are given an automated process where you read numbers off of a screen-- if that doesn't work you are immediately transferred to a human that may or may not be difficult to understand depending on the time of day, and arrangement of the stars, where you complete the same number-repeating process. To be fair, I'm not sure how painless it would be with EA, but with Microsoft it's just a little bit of time and also relatively painless (again, depending on your rep's accent).

Amazon users slam Spore for DRM

That's fine and dandy, except this is NOT stopping Piracy. In fact, you can go download the game on torrent RIGHT NOW and not have to worry about ANY sort of activation mess. All you have to do is copy over a crack and that's it.

So, the people that DO purchase these games are the only people that feel any effect of anti-piracy/DRM implementations.

Amazon users slam Spore for DRM

Lot of good the DRM is doing. The game can be found floating on the torrent and other p2p outlets, and though you can't connect to the servers for shared content you also don't have to worry about activation bullshit.

Tell me again why this 3-installs crap is worth it for the non-pirating consumers?

In my opinion: it isn't.

I've got the map/posters from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto III, and Bully. I have a poster of Ratchet and Clank, which came from the first game on PS2. I've got several Penny Arcade posters, my favorite featuring the Cardboard Tube Samurai! I also have an old Matrix poster, been there since the movie's release. Also, a Halo 3 poster-- forget where I got that one. And, lastly, I have a poster of George Washington crossing the f'in Delaware gettin' ready to whip some British ass (no offense to you Brits out there-- different times, ya know?)

Should they even waste their time at this point.
