iPhone 4 vs. the smartphone elite: EVO 4G, N8, Pre Plus, and HD2

Jun 7th 2010 6:09PM (Engadget)
Why is a SIM vs. a MicroSIM something to tout and give SIM an advantage too? Is that a european thing? I've never taken my SIM out of my phone in the 6 or 7 years I've been with AT&T.

Is AT&T moving up your iPhone upgrade date?

Last week: 8/2010. This week: can upgrade

Candid answers from AT&T on the new iPhone data plans

Other than the tethering tax far as I can tell this is smartphone plan not iPhone plan. Wish tuaw would have asked that.

Really wish the jounrnalists and bloggers would mention the fifty some other gadgets not from apple this company makes. This isn't a sweat shop of apple iPad makers, all technology comes out of that place. MacBooks are made right next to vaios, Dell, hp, Moro, nokia etc

I think the biggest problem is getting the FAA to sign off on allowing it. Typically that's always the issue, you need a lot of FAA certs

How would you change Apple's iPad?

May 8th 2010 4:56AM (Engadget)
Wow. The first page of comments with few exceptions reads as how to turn the iPad to utter shit. A few good gems in there like wireless hot spot or iPhone tethering are good ones but android? USB ports? Ugh

As a month long user of iPad wifi I can think of a few non-troll features

1). Stream from iTunes support. Since theses aren't 1TB devices yet would like to stream from my library like the appletv does because a few hours of tv and movies on a device that can run longer than that would be nice.

2). iPhone OS 4 sooner.

The ability to scroll in comment boxes would be nice if engadet would tweak their comment box HTML code for that

Apple: We want our device back

Apr 20th 2010 1:40PM (TUAW.com)
Disagree completely. Gizmodo has always been a ton more childish. Remember their TV infrared remote prank a few years back? I quit reading that site for six months because of that.

This is just another example of them setting back gadget blogs credibility in the mass media.

This soap opera isn't over. Considering what happened to think secret and they didn't physically get anything from their source other than some information on a product that never came out this isn't played out by a long shot.

I've removed gawker media from my feeds for now. This is just one of many things they've done recently that has annoyed me. The outing of the guy who lost the phone will full name, title, everything pissed me off. I don't care how they get their stories but that poor guy didn't deserve the international 'fame' this gave him.

Samsung i8910 HD runs 62 apps at once, multitaskers bow their heads

Apr 12th 2010 9:12AM (Engadget)
@LiQuiDFuSioN

Yeah I'm sure teh 10 people that bought this phone are pretty smug. Are those 62 applications the only 62 available for those two platforms combined?

I don't get the hard on for multitasking to this extent from people. Yes, I know several instances where it'd been nice had it done it, however they've got a solution coming and it'll more than address my needs.

I'm not about to run out and buy a symbian or god forbid a failing palm web os based phone just because I can load 62 apps and have them all running at one time.

I've learned to live without multitasking, and sometimes my ADD is better for it. When the state saving multitasking capability of the iPhone OS hits it'll be a nice change. However just because some phone can do 'more' doesn't mean it's 'better' somehow.

Dear Apple, you're half-way there

Apr 10th 2010 2:36PM (TUAW.com)
Isn't the ability to disable landscape mode a feature of the hardware switch? Also as an app developer they don't have to react to the orientation change so even if you enable disable you can have issues

For example watch what the abc player does. It kinda goes goofy when your in landscape.

Why do people want that feature so bad? I've not found myself thinking that and I'm curious how it's a big deal
