Metareview: Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

Sep 24th 2007 1:58PM (Joystiq)
Seemed like a perfectly legitimate ending to me. Its what we like to call a "cliffhanger"

Seriously, were these same people pissed when The Two Towers ended, or when the Fellowship ended on a cliffhanger. OMG WATCH THE NEXT MOVIE.

Totally different situation. We already knew the Complete LOTR story, so there was never really a cliffhanger there. ALso, no one knew how long it was going to be untill the conclusion. Can you think of another genuine cliffhanger that took three full years to resolve?

Day 2, and X3F is still cool and I still want it. We'll see where this goes.

Exactly, if you play against someone and enjoy the game, how do you hook up with them to play again? Is your friends list just made up of people you know in real life, or do they just expect people to use forums to exchange friends codes? Thats pretty weak.

Gotta love that trash talk, though. "YOU WILL BE DUNKED!!"

What can I say about X3f?

Good teeth, nice smell, a class act all the way.

'Brutally Fun' countdown does not signal 'Brutal Legend' [update]

Some day, probably long after I'm dead and buried, there will be an article that mentions Tim S, Double Fine or maybe even Psychonauts without including some version of the phrase "the game that critics love but no one bought."

That will be a good day.

Major League Gaming trumps other gaming shows

There are a few small errors in the story.

Its not a seven week tournament. Each event is its own tournament, and you dont advance from one week to the next, teams are seeded and designated as pro or semi-pro for each event based on performance in past events.

Each event has its own prize allocation, with the season total adding up to over $800,000. The grand prize at the final event for Halo 2 4v4 is 100,000 alone.

But the show is amazing, I hope it keeps catching on.

I think these ports are great.

Im not sure what kind of PC set up I would need to play FEAR with voice chat in 1080i on my big TV. But Im sure I'll never have one.

MLG and USA Network to air game tourneys

Why do people watch the NBA if everyone has a hoop in their driveway? Sure you cant dunk, but you cant play Halo 2 like the top five MLG teams either.

The way MLG was presented last year on their website with their live streams of games made it apparent that halo 2 can be a great spectator "sport". You can listen to the players communicating, the player movements are deliberate and easy to follow, its great fun to watch.

I'm not sure how a solid weekend of matches will translate into a one hour broadcast, but for those that are already fans, it will be a great compliment to the online coverage. It will also expose the league to many, many people who arent familiar with it.

mlg-pro.com has a sample so you can check out what the streamed video coverage looks like. They know how to cover the games very well, and Halo 2 lends itself to this much better than the PC games whose tourneys have tried it in the past.

Dont compare it to G4's Arena show. Those games are garbage, and the players they show are no where near the top of each game's skill level.
